''Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI'' is a comprehensive box set by English band Dead or Alive (band), Dead or Alive, released on both 17Compact disc, CD/2DVD and 10LP record, LP versions, on October 28, 2016. The set Compilation album, compiles the band's seven studio albums, from ''Sophisticated Boom Boom'' (1984) to ''Fragile (Dead or Alive album), Fragile'' (2000), and includes the remix albums ''Rip It Up (Dead or Alive album), Rip It Up'' (1987), ''Nude – Remade Remodelled, Nude: Remade Remodelled'' (1989) and ''Unbreakable (Dead or Alive album), Unbreakable: The Fragile Remixes'' (2001). Variants of both the CD/DVD and LP sets were sold on Amazon (company), Amazon with limited edition exclusivities. The Hits was a music video channel broadcast in the United Kingdom and Ireland, owned by Box Television. On 15 August 2008 it was rebranded as 4Music. Overview and availability The channel showcased a range of pop centred on chart hits and current favourites. Originally, the vast majority of music videos were selected by viewers by means of calling a premium-rate telephone number, however the policy was abandoned with the channel playing an automated selection of videos and countdown shows presented by celebrities and singers past and present. Steve Coy
Dead or Alive were an English pop band that released seven studio albums from 1984 to 2000. The band formed in 1980 in Liverpool and found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK top 40 and three albums on the UK top 30. At the peak of their success, the lineup consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Steve Coy (drums), Mike Percy (bass) and Tim Lever (keyboards), with the core pair of Burns and Coy writing and producing for the remainder of the band's career. Two of the band's singles reached the U.S. top 20 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100: " You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" (No. 11 in August 1985) and " Brand New Lover" (No. 15 in March 1987). ''Nude'' is the fourth studio album by British pop group Dead or Alive, released in 1988 on Epic Records. The band lost their foothold in the UK and U.S. charts with this album, but it proved to be a massive success in Japan, where the single "Turn Around and Count 2 Ten" spent 147 days at number one. "Come Home (With Me Baby)" also topped the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. ''Nukleopatra'' is the sixth and final studio album from British synth-pop band Dead or Alive (band), Dead or Alive. Still a massive success in Japan, Epic Records released ''Nukleopatra'' there in 1995. Left without a record contract in the UK and the US, this album did not get released in other territories until years later. ''Nukleopatra'' was eventually issued on several different labels, with varying track listings, timings and album artwork. Production The band initially signed a worldwide release deal with PWL and began recording at PWL Studios. Recording was started on new tracks cowritten and produced by Mike Stock (musician), Mike Stock, but the sessions were aborted when Stock abruptly quit PWL over his dissatisfaction with his share of publishing royalties on the new Dead Or Alive material. Fan The Flame (Part 1)
''Fan the Flame (Part 1)'' is the fifth studio album from dance music band Dead or Alive and was released in 1990. Epic Records released ''Fan the Flame (Part 1)'' in Japan only. The album remained an exclusive in this territory until the worldwide release of the '' Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI'' compilation box set in 2016. The album was a slight change in the band's musical style towards more melancholic lyrics and refined vocals from Burns. The background vocals on "Total Stranger" were performed by British pop band Londonbeat and the London Community Gospel Choir provided backing vocals for "Unhappy Birthday". The song "My Love's On The Line" was also recorded for the album and performed live in 1990 but went unreleased. In 2020 the master tape was discovered in Steve Coy's personal collection and the track released on the ''Invincible'' reissue set the next year. The Hammersmith Apollo, currently called the Eventim Apollo for sponsorship reasons, and formerly known as the Hammersmith Odeon, is a live entertainment performance venue, originally built as a cinema called the Gaumont Palace. ''Youthquake'' is the second studio album by the English pop band Dead or Alive, released on 3 May 1985 by Epic Records. The album was their commercial breakthrough in Europe and the United States, due to the lead single " You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)", which was a UK number-one hit and a top 20 hit in the United States.
