Sophie McIntyre
Sophie McIntyre is a combined Ireland international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career McIntyre, who bowls for Limavady BC and Ballybrakes Community BC, came to prominence after winning the women's 2022 Irish under 25 singles and u25 pairs outdoor titles and going on to win the gold in the u25 singles and silver medal in the U25 pairs at the British Isles Bowls Championships. Later in 2022, she was part of the rinks (fours) team, that won the Northern Ireland national indoor title. In 2023, she made her international debut for the combined Ireland team in test matches against Jersey and Scotland. Her performances led to her being selected by the national team, to represent them at the sport's blue riband event, the 2023 World Bowls Championship. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). British Isles Bowls Championships
The British Isles Bowls Championships is a tournament held between the champions of their respective nations, England Scotland, Wales, combined Ireland and more recently Guernsey and Jersey. It was first held in 1960 although the triples event did not start until 1977. The women's events started in June 1972, with the triples starting in 1982. The first women's singles winner was Lilian Nicholas of Wales. The first men's singles winner was Kenneth Coulson of England and the legendary David Bryant (bowls), David Bryant MBE holds the record for the most singles titles with four. The tournament is held the year after each of the National champions have been crowned. The 2020 edition was initially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but because there were no National Championships held during 2020 (also due to the pandemic) the 2020 edition was rescheduled for 2021. Shauna O'Neill
Shauna O'Neill (born 18 January 2000) is a Northern Irish international lawn bowler. Bowls career Shauna won the Irish U-25 singles in 2019. In 2019, she won the triples bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2020 she was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia. In 2022, she competed in the women's singles and the women's pairs at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. In 2023, she was selected by combined Ireland national team, to represent them at the sport's blue riband event, the 2023 World Bowls Championship. Chloe Wilson (born 8 March 2002) is a Northern Irish international lawn bowler. Career Wilson won the Northern Ireland Women's Bowling Association (NIWBA) Pairs Championship in 2018 and on eyear later was chosen for the Irish Emerging Squad. Wilson was selected to represent Northern Ireland in the triples and the fours at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
