Sophie Chang (born May 28, 1997) is an American tennis player. Chang has career-high WTA rankings of No. 217 in singles, reached in January 2023, and No. 59 in doubles, achieved September 2022. She has won one WTA Tour doubles title with Angela Kulikov in July 2022. On the ITF Circuit, Chang has won 21 doubles titles (five of them with Alexandra Mueller) and three singles titles. Guadalajara Open Akron
The Guadalajara Open Akron is a WTA 1000-level professional women's tennis tournament. It takes place on outdoor hardcourts, and was introduced in 2022 to be played in the month of October at the Panamerican Tennis Center in the city of Zapopan, Mexico (Guadalajara metro area). The tournament was introduced due to the suspension of all WTA tournaments in China following the Peng Shuai sexual assault and disappearance controversy. WTA 1000 tournaments is a category of tennis tournaments on the WTA Tour, governed by the Women's Tennis Association. The old WTA Premier Mandatory and Premier 5 tournaments merged into a single highest tier and it is implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. As of 2021, WTA 1000 tournaments include events with prize money of approximately $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 1,000 (Mandatory: Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing) or 900 (non-Mandatory: Dubai/Doha, Rome, Canada, Cincinnati, Wuhan and Guadalajara). Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated Caty McNally and Taylor Townsend in the final, 3–6, 7–5, 6–1 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2022 US Open.
