Sophia Vari
Sophia Vari ( el, Σοφία Βάρη; 9 October 1940 – 5 May 2023) was a Greek painter and sculptor. Biography Born as Sophia Canellopoulos, she was married to sculptor Fernando Botero. She opened a studio in Paris in 1992, where she trained the likes of Patricia Avellan and Laetitia le Tourneur d'Ison - Disone. She was known for her polychromic and monochromic styles. Vari died in Monte Carlo on 5 May 2023. Exhibitions Vari's work has been exhibited internationally. In 2004 an exhibition dedicated to her work was held at the Benaki Museum in Athens Her 2008 exhibition at the Temple of Confucius in Beijing, to coincide with the Beijing Olympics, was the first exhibition to be held there by a non-Chinese artist. Pera Museum
Pera Museum ( Turkish: ''Pera Müzesi'') is an art museum in the Tepebaşı quarter of the Beyoğlu (Pera) district in Istanbul, Turkey, at Meşrutiyet Avenue No. 65 (adjacent to İstiklal Avenue and in close proximity to Taksim Square.) It has a particular focus on Orientalism in 19th-century art. History The Pera Museum was founded by the ''Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation'' in 2005. The museum is located in the historic building of the former ''Bristol Hotel'', which was designed by architect Achille Manoussos and built in 1893. It was renovated between 2003 and 2005 by architect Sinan Genim, who preserved the facade of the building and transformed the interior into a modern and fully equipped museum. Beijing Temple of Confucius () is the second-largest Confucian temple in China, after the one in Confucius's hometown of Qufu. History The Temple of Confucius in Beijing was built in 1302 during the reign of Temür (Emperor Chengzong) of the Yuan dynasty. The compound was enlarged twice, once during the Ming dynasty and again during the Qing dynasty; it now occupies roughly . Vari ( el, Βάρη) is a southern suburb of Athens and former municipality in East Attica, Greece along the Athens coast. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, of which it is a municipal unit. nasterjd, on Athena (capital). Benaki Museum
The Benaki Museum, established and endowed in 1930 by Antonis Benakis in memory of his father Emmanuel Benakis, is housed in the Benakis family mansion in downtown Athens, Greece.
