Sontaya Kunplome ( th, สนธยา คุณปลื้ม, ; born 10 December 1963) is a Thai politician. He was appointed political advisor to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in April 2018. Later in September 2018, he was appointed Pattaya Mayor. Early life and education Sontaya is the son of Somchai Khunpluem ("Kamnan Poh") and Satil Khunpluem. He graduated from Assumption College Sriracha and Bachelor of Laws from Sripatum University. Political careers From 2001 to 2002, Sontaya was Minister of Science and Technology, and from 2002 to 2005 Minister of Tourism and Sports under Thaksin Shinawatra. As an executive member of the Thai Rak Thai Party, he has been banned from politics for five years since the Supreme Tribunal dissolved the party in May 2007. The Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT; th, พรรคไทยรักไทย, , ; "Thais Love Thais Party") was a Thai political party founded in 1998. From 2001 to 2006, it was the ruling party under its founder, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. During its brief existence, Thai Rak Thai won the three general elections it contested. Assumption College Sriracha
Assumption College Sriracha (ACS) is a private, Catholic-run school on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand, in Si Racha District, Chonburi Province. The campus covers , and has play spaces, football pitches, a swimming pool, and a sports stadium. Founded in 1944, it educates 4,200 children, mainly boys, from Kindergarten to ''Mathayom'' 6 (Grade 12). Former Thai prime ministers and other leading figures have been educated at Assumption colleges and universities. Sripatum University (SPU; Thai: มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม) is one of the oldest private universities in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Sook Pookayaporn established the university in 1970 under the name of Thai Suriya College. Wittaya Khunpluem ( th, วิทยา คุณปลื้ม) was born on June 27, 1965, as an offspring of Somchai Khunpluem ("Kamnan Poh") and Satil Khunpluem. He is Thai politician. He represents the Chonburi province as a member of the parliament and president of Chonburi Provincial Administration Organization. Beside that he is the chairman of the Chonburi Football Club and of the Chonburi Football Association. Somchai Khunpluem, alternatively spelled Kunplome ( th, สมชาย คุณปลื้ม; 30 September 1937 – 17 June 2019), was a Thai politician, businessman and organized crime boss. He was also known by the nickname ''"Kamnan Poh"'' ( th, กำนันเป๊าะ, " subdistrict headman Poh"). The Phalang Chon Party ( th, พรรคพลังชล, Phak Phalang Chon) is a political party in Thailand founded in 2011 based in Chonburi Province. The party's key figure is its "chief adviser" Sontaya Kunplome, former minister of tourism under Thaksin Shinawatra, who left the Bhumjaithai Party in 2011 to found the Phalang Chon Party.
