The Sontarans ( ) are a fictional race of extraterrestrial life, extraterrestrial humanoids principally portrayed in the British science fiction on television, science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who''. A warrior race characterised by their ruthlessness and fearlessness of death, they were conceived by writer and future story editor Robert Holmes (screenwriter), Robert Holmes and first appeared in the 1973 ''Doctor Who'' serial ''The Time Warrior''. Characteristics Culture The Sontarans are a race of humanoids with a stocky build, greenish brown skin, a distinctive dome-shaped head, and they have only three fingers on each hand, though some members of their species do have five fingers. Their musculature is designed for load-bearing rather than leverage, because of the high gravity on their home planet. War Of The Sontarans
"War of the Sontarans", prefixed frequently with either "Chapter Two" or "''Flux''", is the second episode of the thirteenth series of the British science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who'', and of the six-episode serial known collectively as ''Doctor Who: Flux''. It was first broadcast on BBC One on 7 November 2021. It was written by showrunner and executive producer Chris Chibnall, and directed by Jamie Magnus Stone. The episode stars Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, alongside Mandip Gill and John Bishop as her companions, Yasmin Khan and Dan Lewis, respectively. Plot The Doctor, Dan, and Yaz are transported to Sevastopol during the Crimean War, where they all briefly meet Mary Seacole before Yaz and Dan are transported away through time. The Doctor is unable to enter her TARDIS to track and find them. Remaining in Sevastopol, the Doctor realizes the British opponents during the war are now the Sontarans, with all traces of China and Russia replaced with ... Bob Baker (scriptwriter)
Robert John Baker (26 July 1939 – 3 November 2021) was a British television and film writer. He was best known for working on the original run of ''Doctor Who'', and for being a co-writer of the Wallace and Gromit films ''The Wrong Trousers'', ''A Close Shave'', '' Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit'' and ''A Matter of Loaf and Death'' (in which the character Baker Bob is named after him). Career Baker and Dave Martin began writing for Harlech Television (HTV), the local ITV franchise. One of their earliest works was Thick As Thieves starring Leonard Rossiter. Baker wrote for ''Doctor Who'' between 1971 and 1979. The Sarah Jane Adventures
''The Sarah Jane Adventures'' is a British science fiction television programme that was produced by BBC Cymru Wales for CBBC, created by Russell T Davies, and starring Elisabeth Sladen. The programme is a spin-off of the long-running BBC science fiction programme '' Doctor Who'' and is aimed at a younger audience than ''Doctor Who''. It focuses on the adventures of Sarah Jane Smith, an investigative journalist who, as a young woman, had numerous adventures across time and space with the Doctor. Following Sladen's sudden death from cancer, the BBC confirmed that the show would not return for a sixth series. The series debuted on BBC One with a 60-minute special, "Invasion of the Bane", on 1 January 2007, and broadcast until Sladen’s death in 2011.
