''Songs from Black Mountain'' is the eighth studio album by Live. It was released in most countries on April 10, 2006, but was released on May 9 in Canada, May 29 in the UK and June 6 in the US. It is the last album to feature lead vocalist Ed Kowalczyk before his departure from the band in 2009. Kowalcyzk rejoined in 2016, but Taylor, Dahlheimer, and Gracey were all fired from the band by the end of 2022. Live (, often typeset as LĪVE or +LĪVE+) is an American rock band formed in York, Pennsylvania, in 1984 by Ed Kowalczyk (lead vocals, guitars), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass), Chad Gracey (drums), and Chad Taylor (guitars). Kowalczyk is the only remaining member of this original lineup. The band started to gain attention following their single "Operation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition)", the video for which got regular airplay on MTV, and the moderate success of their second album, ''Mental Jewelry''. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia. Radioactive Records
Radioactive Records was an American record label. It was formed as a joint venture between talent manager Gary Kurfirst (who managed such acts as the Ramones, Big Audio Dynamite, Deee-Lite and Deborah Harry) and MCA Records, and it is now out of business. Its catalogue is now owned by Geffen Records and licensed through Universal Music Enterprises. Acts on the label included Live, Black Grape, the Ramones, Big Audio Dynamite, Talking Heads, Eurythmics, Traci Lords, and Angelfish (Shirley Manson—Manson joined Garbage courtesy of Gary Kurfirst). ''Mental Jewelry'' is the second studio album by the band Live—but their first under this name; they had previously released the album ''The Death of a Dictionary'' under the name Public Affection, under which it also released the EP ''Divided Mind, Divided Planet''. Released on December 31, 1991, it is also the band's major label debut. Many of the songs on ''Mental Jewelry'' are based on the writings of Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. A music video was filmed for "Operation Spirit". The video was filmed when the band were still calling themselves Public Affection. On June 30, 2017, Live announced a reissue of ''Mental Jewelry'' as a two-CD set, with the first CD containing the original album and the three outtakes and the second CD containing a full concert.
