''Songs for the Season'', or ''Ingrid Michaelson's Songs for the Season'', is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson. It was released by Cabin 24 Records on October 26, 2018. It is her first Christmas album and takes a nostalgic approach to covers of Christmas standards and carols. A deluxe edition reissue, featuring five additional tracks, was released on November 5, 2021. Background Michaelson expressed that she loves the Christmas holiday and has wished to record a holiday album for years. Having recorded various Christmas songs such as the charity single " Winter Song", a duet with Sara Bareilles, she released ''Snowfall'' in 2017, an EP that compiled the winter- and holiday-themed songs she had recorded over the course of her career. Ingrid Ellen Michaelson (born December 8, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Her first album, '' Slow the Rain,'' was released in 2005, and she has since released eight more albums: '' Girls and Boys,'' '' Be OK'', '' Everybody'', '' Human Again'', '' Lights Out'', ''It Doesn't Have to Make Sense'', ''Songs for the Season'', and her most recent, '' Stranger Songs.'' "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!", also known as simply "Let It Snow", is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945 in Hollywood, California, during a heat wave as Cahn and Styne imagined cooler conditions. The song was first recorded that fall by Vaughn Monroe, was released just after Thanksgiving, and became a hit by Christmas. Despite the lyrics making no mention of any holiday, the song has come to be regarded as a Christmas song worldwide due to its winter theme, being played on radio stations during the Christmas and holiday season, and having often been covered by various artists on Christmas-themed albums. Irving Berlin (born Israel Beilin; yi, ישראל ביילין; May 11, 1888 – September 22, 1989) was a Russian-American composer, songwriter and lyricist. James Caesar Petrillo (March 16, 1892 – October 23, 1984) was the leader of the American Federation of Musicians, a trade union of professional musicians in the United States and Canada. Biography Petrillo was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Though, in his youth, Petrillo played the trumpet, he finally made a career out of organizing musicians into the union starting in 1919. Petrillo became president of the Chicago Local 10 of the musician's union in 1922, and was president of the American Federation of Musicians from 1940 to 1958. John Collins Fulton (June 13, 1903 – November 13, 1993) was an American composer, trombonist, and vocalist. At the age of 17, he started playing the trombone for small-town dances. He sang with the Mason-Dixon Orchestra. He also played the trombone and sang with the George Olsen Orchestra. He was part of the trio that sang on the 1925 number one hit " Who?"
