''Songs for the Incurable Heart'' is STEMM's third full-length album originally released November 15, 2005. It was re-released on October 10, 2006 by major record label I Scream Records, who signed STEMM in 2006. The song "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is a tribute song to the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks in which vocalist T.J. Frost was a survivor. STEMM
STEMM is an American metal band from Niagara Falls, New York. STEMM was formed in 1998 by Joe Cafarella. He, along with Louie and Jimi Penque, Russ Martin, and Alex Scouten made up the original lineup of the band. Alex left the band in 1999, and was briefly replaced by guitarist Fred Blackwell. Rich Spalla replaced Fred shortly after. This lineup remained intact until 2003. Joe and Rich merged with drummer Danny Nelligan, bassist Stephen Crowl, and vocalist TJ Frost of Buffalo band 5 Years Gone, to create a new incarnation of the band. This lineup also saw a change in the musical direction of the band from Rapcore to more of a metal act. This lineups first two concerts were a showcase for Metalblade Records, and opening for Sevendust. The band performed on many Jägermeister Tours, opening for such acts as Hatebreed, Chimaira, Staind, Godsmack, Soulfly, Trivium, Arch Enemy and Black Label Society. Strongsville, Ohio
Strongsville is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States, and a suburb of Cleveland. As of the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, the city population was 44,750. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Groove Metal
Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. Inspired by thrash metal and traditional heavy metal, groove metal features raspy singing and screaming, down-tuned guitars, heavy guitar riffs, and syncopated rhythms. Unlike thrash metal, groove metal is usually slower and also uses elements of traditional heavy metal. Pantera are often considered the pioneers of groove metal, and groove metal expanded in the 1990s with bands like White Zombie, Machine Head, and Sepultura. The genre continued in the 2000s with bands like Lamb of God, DevilDriver, and Five Finger Death Punch. I Scream Records is an independent record label founded by Laurens Kusters in 1994 in Brussels, Belgium. The label has an extensive catalogue and is one of the leading punk and hardcore labels in Western Europe. History The label's first releases was from the band Deviate, a band in which Laurens Kusters played the drums. By the late nineties, I Scream Records had over 25 active bands. Switched (previously depicted as Sw1tched) was a nu metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. History Forming in 1999 as Sw1tch, the band played shows around Ohio and released a demo entitled ''Fuckin' Demo''. The songs "Anymore", "Wrongside", "Inside", "Darkening Days", "Last Chance", and "Skins", which appear in their demo versions on this CD, went on to appear on the '' Subject to Change'' album. This demo was later re-released on disc two of the "Ghosts in the Machine" album in 2006. Since a funk band already had rights to the name Switch, the band had to change their name to Sw1tched, and was later signed to Immortal/Virgin Records. After recording all of the bass for the '' Subject to Change'' album, bassist Shawn May left the band for unknown reasons, and was replaced by Chimaira drum tech Jason French. Blood Scent
''Blood Scent'' is STEMM's fourth full-length album and first on new record label Catch 22 Records. It was released on November 11, 2008, almost exactly three years since their prior release, which was on November 15, 2005. The album is the first to feature the band's new line-up with original member Alex Scouten taking over guitar duties while former guitarist Joe Cafarella handles full-time vocals for the first time. The first single from the album has been announced as "Awake," the song also has an accompanying video that was produced by GDM Video Production company. The first 1,000 albums sold will also feature a DVD, STEMM's first ever, that will document several aspects of the band and the recording process for Blood Scent. During a recent interview, vocalist Joe Cafarella talked at length about the new album, saying The band was sending their second single "House of Cards" to rock radio on August 10, 2009. Damageplan
Damageplan was an American heavy metal band from Dallas, Texas, formed in 2003. Following the demise of their previous group Pantera, brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott wanted to start a new band. The pair recruited former Diesel Machine and Halford guitarist Patrick Lachman on vocals, and later Bob Zilla on bass. Damageplan released '' New Found Power'', their only album, on February 10, 2004. ''New Found Power'' debuted at number 38 on the ''Billboard'' 200, selling 44,676 copies in its first week. Dimebag Darrell
Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 – December 8, 2004), best known by his stage name Dimebag Darrell, was an American musician. He was the guitarist of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, both of which he co-founded alongside his brother Vinnie Paul. He is often regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists of all time. A son of country music producer Jerry Abbott, Abbott began playing guitar at age 12, and Pantera released its debut album, ''Metal Magic'' (1983), when he was 16.
