Song Jin-woo (journalist)
Song Jin-woo (Korean: 송진우, hanja: 宋鎭禹, May 8, 1889 - December 30, 1945) was a Korean journalist, politician, independence activist, and social activist. His nickname was Goha (고하, 古下). He was the 3rd, 6th and 8th CEO of The Dong-a Ilbo and he was the founder and first head of the Korea Democratic Party (한국 민주당) in 1945. He was killed by Han Hyun-woo, a member of Baikuisa, a South Korean terrorist group. Damyang
Damyang County (''Damyang-gun'') is a county in Jeollanam-do, South Korea. Tourism is a major local industry. Notable local products include bamboo goods and strawberries. Damyang is not to be confused with Danyang, which is located in eastern North Chungcheong Province. Geography The county comprises one ''eup'' (Damyang-eup, the seat), and eleven ''myeon'' (Bongsan-myeon, Changpyeong-myeon, Daedeok-myeon, Daejeon-myeon, Geumseong-myeon, Goseo-myeon, Mujeong-myeon, Nam-myeon, Subok-myeon, Wolsan-myeon, Yong-myeon). Chang Deok-soo
Chang Deok-soo (December 10, 1894 – December 2, 1947) was a Korean politician, independence activist, journalist, and political scientist. He was the first editor-in-chief of the Dong-A Ilbo. He was the founder and second head of the Korea Democratic Party from 1945 to 1947. He was assassinated by the right-wing terrorist group the White Shirts Society in 1947. Korean Independence Activists
The Korean independence movement was a military and diplomatic campaign to achieve the independence of Korea from Japan. After the Japanese annexation of Korea in 1910, Korea's domestic resistance peaked in the March 1st Movement of 1919, which was crushed and sent Korean leaders to flee into China. In China, Korean independence activists built ties with the National Government of the Republic of China which supported the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (KPG), as a government in exile. At the same time, the Korean Liberation Army, which operated under the Chinese National Military Council and then the KPG, led attacks against Japan. After the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941, China became one of the Allies of World War II.
