"Song for a Winter's Night" is a song written by Gordon Lightfoot, and first recorded for his album '' The Way I Feel'' (1967). Lightfoot recorded another version of the song for ''Gord's Gold'' (1975), a greatest hits compilation on which other re-recordings also appeared. Background The song was written on a hot summer night in Cleveland while Lightfoot was performing there. He was missing his wife of the time, Brita Ingegerd Olaisson, and his thoughts turned to winter. Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. (born November 17, 1938) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music. Glass Tiger is a Grammy Award-nominated Canadian rock band from Newmarket, Ontario that formed in 1983. The band has released five studio albums. Its 1986 debut album, '' The Thin Red Line'', went quadruple platinum in Canada and gold in the United States. Two singles from that album, "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" and " Someday", reached the U.S. Top 10. Blue Rodeo is a Canadian country rock band formed in 1984 in Toronto, Ontario. They have released 16 full-length studio albums, four live recordings, one greatest hits album, and two video/DVDs, along with multiple solo albums, side projects, and collaborations. History High school friends Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor began playing music professionally together after completing university. Sanna Viktoria Nielsen (born 27 November 1984) is a Swedish singer and television presenter. On her seventh attempt, she won Melodifestivalen in 2014 with the song " Undo" and so represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark, finishing in 3rd place overall. Reid Jamieson (born October 20, 1973) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. He was a regular member of the CBC's The Vinyl Cafe and won the grand prize for Folk in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the song RAIL.
