Sonay Adem
Sonay Adem (1957, Paphos-29 October 2018) was a Turkish Cypriot politician. He served as the Minister for Labor and Social Security in the Cabinet of Northern Cyprus under Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer. He was confirmed in his office (in the 20th TRNC Government) in April 2005 and served until 2009. Paphos
Paphos ( el, Πάφος ; tr, Baf) is a coastal city in southwest Cyprus and the capital of Paphos District. In classical antiquity, two locations were called Paphos: Old Paphos, today known as Kouklia, and New Paphos. The current city of Paphos lies on the Mediterranean coast, about west of Limassol (the biggest port on the island), both of which are connected by the A6 highway. Paphos International Airport is the country's second-largest airport. The city has a subtropical-Mediterranean climate, with the mildest temperatures on the island. In 1980, Paphos was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its ancient architecture, mosaics, and ancient religious importance. Council Of Ministers (Northern Cyprus)
The Council of Ministers ( tr, Bakanlar Kurulu) is the executive branch of the government of the unrecognized state Northern Cyprus, consisting of ministers. The council is chaired by the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus and the ministers head executive departments of the government. The President of Northern Cyprus reserved the right to chair the Council of Ministers, albeit without voting. The maximum number of ministries, as defined by the constitution, is ten. The Council of Ministers is appointed by the Prime Minister, and the program of the government needs to be read out in the Assembly of the Republic within a week of the appointment. The cabinet then needs to receive a vote of confidence by the majority of the members of the Assembly. Ferdi Sabit Soyer
Ferdi Sabit Soyer (; born March 5, 1952) is a former Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and former Leader of Republican Turkish Party (CTP). Soyer, a former union leader, has been a member of the TRNC parliament since 1985 (except for a three-year absence between 1990 and 1993). He was named successor to Talat's former post of TRNC Prime Minister on April 25, 2005. Soyer was born in Nicosia in 1952, attending secondary school in Cyprus, then continued towards a degree in medicine from Turkey. However, due to political reasons he did not complete his university education. While there, Soyer co-founded the Youth Federation of Turkish Cypriot Students (KOGEF) and he was also its leader for a time. Republican Turkish Party
The Republican Turkish Party ( tr, Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi, CTP) is a social-democratic political party in Northern Cyprus. The party was founded in 1970 by Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu, a lawyer, in opposition to the leadership of Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş. On 30 June 2008, the Republican Turkish Party became a consultative member of the Socialist International (voted in by all members except the Greek Cypriot Movement for Social Democracy). It became a full member of the organization in 2014. Policies and ideology The CTP is a social democratic political party, positioned on the centre-left on the political spectrum. Communal Liberation Party-New Forces
Communal Liberation Party New Forces ( tr, Toplumcu Kurtuluş Partisi Yeni Güçler, TKP-YG) is a centre-left political party in Northern Cyprus. It is led by Mehmet Çakıcı. It was founded in 2016 after a group headed by Çakıcı broke off from the Communal Democracy Party (TDP). Çakıcı and former MP Mustafa Emiroğluları resigned from the TDP on 25 November 2016. This was followed by the resignation of 70 other members of the TDP, mostly originating from the historical Communal Liberation Party (TKP), on 28 November 2016. The rationale given for these resignations was what they saw as "undemocratic" policies employed by the TDP leadership under Cemal Özyiğit and "the restriction of the freedom of speech within the party" after an election for the head of the Güzelyurt District.
