Son Seong-cheol
Son Seong-cheol ( ko, 손 성철; born February 14, 1987) is a South Korean springboard diver. He won a bronze medal, along with his partner Park Ji-Ho, for the men's synchronized springboard at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, accumulating a score of 388.26 points. Son represented South Korea at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed as the nation's lone diver for the men's springboard event. Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognized sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. Men's 3 metre springboard competition at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics was held from August 18 to August 19, at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. It was an individual diving competition, with dives performed from a flexible springboard three metres above the surface of the water. The individual diving competitions all consist of three rounds. In the first, the 29 divers each perform six dives. The top 18 divers advance to the semifinals. Each diver again performs six dives, and the top 12 divers from among those dives advance to the finals. Preliminary scores are ignored at this point, as only the semifinal scores are considered in advancement.
