Son Of A Gun
Son of a gun is an exclamation in American and British English. It can be used encouragingly or to compliment, as in "You son of a gun, you did it!" Definition The ''Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary'' and ''Webster's Dictionary'' both define "son of a gun" in American English as a euphemism for son of a bitch. ''Encarta Dictionary'' defines the term in a different way as someone "affectionately or kindly regarded." The term can also be used as an interjection expressing surprise, mild annoyance or disappointment. Etymology The phrase is found in a piece of comic verse from 1726: A 1787 correspondent to ''The Gentleman's Magazine'' suggested that the phrase originally meant "a soldier's brat". The phrase potentially has its origin in a Royal Navy direction that pregnant women aboard smaller naval vessels give birth in the space between the broadside guns, in order to keep the gangways and crew decks clear. Admiral William Henry Smyth wrote in his 1867 book, ''The Sailor' ...

Sons Of Guns
''Sons of Guns'' is a reality television series that aired on the Discovery Channel between 2011 and 2014. The series centers on Red Jacket Firearms LLC, a Louisiana-based business that manufactures and sells custom firearms to law enforcement, security firms, and private collectors. Will Hayden was the founder and owner of the shop, while his daughter and business partner Stephanie managed the office. As on the Discovery Channel series ''MythBusters'', this show practices a degree of self-censorship and safety-consciousness. Each episode begins with a staff member (usually Will) warning viewers not to try anything demonstrated on the show at home. In addition, during scenes of catastrophic failure, the crew reminds the audience not to try anything at home. The program made a noted point to avoid showing specific detail of how weapon modifications or fabrications are performed. After five seasons, the show was cancelled on August 27, 2014, as a direct result of Hayden's arrest on v ...

Sonofabitch Stew
Sonofabitch stew (or son-of-a-bitch stew) was a cowboy dish of the American West. Recipes Various recipes exist for this beef stew, and some sources say its ingredients may vary according to whatever is on hand. Most recipes involve meat and offal from a calf, though, making sonofabitch stew something of a luxury item on the trail. Alan Davidson's 1999 book '' Oxford Companion to Food'' specifies meats and organs from a freshly killed unweaned calf, including the brain, heart, liver, sweetbreads, tongue, pieces of tenderloin, and an item called the "marrow gut" and much Louisiana hot sauce. This last item, the "marrow gut", was a key ingredient. Davidson quotes Ramon Adam's 1952 ''Come An' Get It: The Story of the Old Cowboy Cook'', which reports that this is a tube, between two of the calf's stomachs, filled with a substance resembling marrow, deemed edible only while the calf is young and still feeding on milk. This marrow-like substance was included in the stew and, ac ...

He was a founding member and the original bass guitarist for the Kinks, from 1963 until 1969. He also sang backing vocals on some of their records. Release and reception ''The La's'' was released in 1990 on Go! Discs in the United Kingdom and in 1991 on London Records in the United States. The album was praised by critics and embraced by fans. It was the result of nearly three years in the studio with a string of acclaimed producers. Each attempted to capture the sound sought by Lee Mavers, the lead singer and principal songwriter of the band. However, due to Mavers' exacting expectations, the sound eluded each of the producers, and the album eventually released was immediately disowned by the band. After the original release went out of print, a remastered version was released in 2007. Background In late 1995, KMFDM had completed ...

Mad, Bad, And Dangerous To Know (Dead Or Alive Album)
''Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know'' is the third studio album by British pop band Dead or Alive, released on 21 November 1986 on Epic Records. Continuing their association with the Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) production team, Dead or Alive scored several hit singles from this album, including " Brand New Lover", " Something in My House", "Hooked on Love" and "I'll Save You All My Kisses". Production of the album was marked by arguments between the band and SAW, with the latter frustrated by the band's refusal to branch into House music, and singer Pete Burns unwilling to hand over songwriting duties to the producers. Burns expressed frustration with his record company's attitude to his single choices, complaining the label only relented on scheduling "Brand New Lover" for release after Bananarama had a hit with their Dead or Alive-inspired cover of "Venus", and alleging they also refused to give "Something In My House" a Halloween release date. While Burns claimed vicious studi ...
