''Something in the Room She Moves'' is the sixth studio album by American musician Julia Holter, released on March 22, 2024, by Domino Recording Company. The album was inspired by Holter's newborn daughter, with Holter focused on capturing a childlike playfulness. Holter produced the album with Kenny Gilmore, wrote it with Devin Hoff and Chris Speed, and recorded with Hoff, Speed, Elizabeth Goodfellow, and Tashi Wada. It was preceded by three singles and was acclaimed by critics upon release. Julia Shammas Holter (born December 18, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, composer, artist and academic, based in Los Angeles. Following three independent album productions, Holter released ''Tragedy'' as her first official studio album in 2011. '' Ekstasis'' followed in 2012. After signing with Domino Records in 2013, she released the albums ''Loud City Song'' (2013), ''Have You in My Wilderness'' (2015) and the live-in-the-studio album '' In the Same Room'' (2017). Most recently, her double album ''Aviary'' was released in 2018. Christina Quarles (born 1985) is a queer, mixed contemporary American artist and writer, living and working in Los Angeles, whose gestural, abstract paintings confront themes of racial and sexual identities, gender, and queerness. She grew up as an only child to a single mother and started drawing from an early age. She took her first life drawing class at age 12. Fretless Bass
A fretless bass is a bass guitar whose neck does not have any frets. While the instrument is played in all styles of music, it is most common in pop, rock, and jazz. It first saw widespread use during the 1970s, although some players used them before then. Instead of being invented by an instrument manufacturer, the first fretless basses usually resulted from modifications made by bass guitar players.
