Daniel O'Brien (born January 6, 1986), also known as "DOB", is an American humorist, author, writer, comedian and songwriter; formerly for Cracked.com. Since August 2018, O'Brien has worked as a staff writer on the HBO show '' Last Week Tonight with John Oliver''. In 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 he was part of the writing team that won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing on a Variety Series. Early life Daniel grew up in Hazlet, New Jersey, where he attended Raritan High School. He later attended Rutgers University in New Jersey. His college job as a bartender was the inspiration for his unpublished online novel, ''Bartender''. His uncle is actor Skip O'Brien.
