Somaliland Regional Games
The Somaliland Regional Games (SLR Games) is a multi-sport event involving athletes from the Regions of Somaliland. The event was first held in 2011, and has taken place every two or four years since then. The games is under regulation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Somaliland) with supervision by the Somaliland Football Association. Burao
Burao, also spelt Bur'o or Bur'ao (; so, Burco, , ar, برعو) is the capital of the Togdheer region and the second largest city in Somaliland. Burao was also the third largest city of Somalia. Burao was the site of the declaration of an independent Somaliland on 18 May 1991. History 19th century The city originated as a well named Ceel-Gooni in the late 19th century used by nomads from the surrounding area. The town subsequently grew around the well. The settlement was later on burned to the ground by British forces in 1900, with the modern settlement being re-established in 1910. Hargeisa
Hargeisa (; so, Hargeysa, ar, هرجيسا) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Somaliland. It is located in the Maroodi Jeex region of the Horn of Africa. It succeeded Burco as the capital of the British Somaliland Protectorate in 1941. Hargeisa is the largest city in Somaliland, and also served as the capital of the Isaaq Sultanate during the mid-to-late 19th century. Hargeisa was founded as a watering and trading stop between the coast and the interior by the Isaaq Sultanate. The regions of Somaliland ( so, Gobolada Somaliland; ar, محافظات صوماليلاند) is divided into six administrative regions, Awdal, Sahil, Maroodi-Jeeh, Togdheer, Sanaag and Sool. Somaliland Football Association
The Somaliland Football Association (SFA; so, Xidhiidhka Kubadda Cagta Somaliland, ar, صوماليلاند اتحاد كرة القدم ) is the governing body of association football, football in Somaliland. The association was established in 2011 The current Chairman and General Secretary is Mohamed Abdi Dixood and Samatar Mohamed Abdillahi respectively. Somaliland became a member of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (CONIFA) in 2015 and participated in the 2016 CONIFA World Football Cup held in Abkhazia. Somaliland was announced the as the host of the 2020 edition of the tournament in 2019, but this was later revoked after concerns regarding their ability to fund the tournament. The Somaliland national football team is the football team that represents Somaliland, a self-declared republic that is internationally recognized as a ''de facto'' state. Although Somaliland is a ''de facto'' state, it has not yet received international ''de jure'' recognition.
