Solveig Slettahjell
Solveig Slettahjell (born 2 April 1971 in Bærum, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz singer, known for her soulful, seductive voice. Career Slettahjell had her record debut with the album ''Slow Motion Orchestra'' (2003), contains jazz standards like "All the Way" and " My Heart Belongs to Daddy". It was released after festival appearance at Nattjazz 2002. For her second album, ''Silver'' (2004), her band took the name "Slow Motion Quintet". In 2005, they released ''Pixiedust''. After working with a commission for Vossajazz Festiva (2009), she released the music on the acclaimed album ''Tarpan Seasons'' (2010). In 2012 she acclaimed performance at "Oslo Jazz Festival" 2012 with Gregory Porter. Slettahjell collaborated with Tord Gustavsen and Sjur Miljeteig releasing the albums ''Natt I Betlehem'' (2008) and ''Arven'' (2013) including with Nils Økland. Bærum
Bærum () is a municipality in the Greater Oslo Region in Norway that forms an affluent suburb of Oslo on the west coast of the city. Oslo Jazzfestival
Oslo International Jazz Festival (Oslo Jazzfestival, established 1986 in Norway) is a Norwegian music event, held in August, with a focus on music form the jazz genre, performed on stages in Oslo. History The pilot project (1984–1985) was initiated by Aage Teigen. The first festival in 1986, had more than forty volunteers and the event received 350 000 Norwegian kroner in donations from Oslo Municipality. The music was largely traditional jazz, Dixieland, New Orleans jazz, etc. The organization became a Foundation in 1995, led by Truls Helweg, chairman of the board since 1995) and permanently appointed General Manager (Aage Teigen), at a time when the budget was over 5 million Norwegian kroner. Sigvart Dagsland
Sigvart Dagsland (born 18 October 1963) is a Norwegian singer, pianist, and composer. Career Dagsland writes and performs in various genres, his more recent albums being pop-rock. He has recorded 18 albums and performs 30–50 concerts every year, and has sold over 450 000 copies of his records. He has been nominated to the Norwegian Spellemannsprisen three times in the pop genre, and was rewarded with Prøysenprisen in 2009. Dagsland was born in Stavanger in the southwestern part of Norway, and grew up in the Stokka district. He performed as a boy soprano in Stavanger Church Choir in the period 1975 to 1977 and as tenor in the Sentralkoret in 1978 to 1980. He holds a Master's degree in Law. ACT Music
ACT is a German record label founded in 1992 by Siegfried Loch. It is a division of ACT + Music Video founded by Loch and Annette Humpe in 1988. ACT started as a pop music label but folded soon after it started. Loch turned it into a jazz label, at first reissuing music he had recorded for Liberty, Philips, and WEA before turning to new recordings. ACT's first release was the album ''Jazzpaña'' by Vince Mendoza and Arif Mardin and featured Michael Brecker, Al Di Meola, and Steve Khan. It earned two Grammy nominations. Nils Økland (musician)
Nils Økland (born 7 January 1961) is a Norwegian Hardanger fiddle player known as a bridge builder between contemporary music and folk music, and the brother of the musician Torbjørn Økland. Biography Økland performed with the short-lived musical group ''Løver og Tigre'' ("Lions and Tigers," 1983), with Balkansemblet (1984-1995 and 2005-) and in a duo along with jazz bassist Bjørnar Andresen (Hot Club Records, 1986). Along with Arvid Gangsø and Jorun Hafstad he played in the trio ''Skinn og Bein'' ("Skin and Bones," which recorded ''Knaus — en samtidscollage'' (contemporary rock, Hot Club Records, 1989). The Gammleng Award ( no, Gammleng-prisen) is a Norwegian culture award created by ''The Fund for Performing Artists'' in 1982, 25 years after the fund was established in 1957. The award's official name is the ''Rolf Gammleng award to performing artists'' (). It's awarded to artists who have in a meritorious way contributed on recordings, stage performances, or concerts. Kongsberg Jazz Festival or Kongsberg Jazzfestival is an international jazz festival that has been held annually in Kongsberg, Norway, since 1964. Radka Toneff Memorial Award (established in 1993) is a Norwegian award given to individuals who are acting in the spirit of Norwegian jazz singer Radka Toneff. Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February.
