Schechter Manhattan is a K-8 independent Jewish day school located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The school adheres to a progressive or constructivist educational philosophy, which espouses the value of experiential learning and self-reflection. History Schechter Manhattan opened in 1996 with Dr. S. Lorch as the founding Head of School. Society For The Advancement Of Judaism
The Society for the Advancement of Judaism, also known as SAJ, is a synagogue and Jewish organization in New York City, on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Founded in 1922 by Rabbi Mordecai M. Kaplan, the founder of Reconstructionist Judaism, the synagogue is affiliated with the Reconstructionist Jewish movement. The Park Avenue Synagogue ( he, אגודת ישרים, ''Agudat Yesharim'', The Association of the Righteous) is a Conservative Jewish congregation located at 50 East 87th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Founded in 1882, the congregation is one of the largest and most influential synagogues in the United States. The congregation was founded in 1882 as the Reform congregation, "Temple Gates of Hope", by a group of German Jews.
