Solomon King (film)
''Solomon King'' is a 1974 independent blaxploitation film produced, written, co-directed, and starring Sal Watts, and featuring "Little Jamie" Watts, Claudia Russo, Felice Kinchelow, and Samaki Bennett, with baseball player Tito Fuentes as "Special Guest Star". The film was co-directed by Jack Bomay. Plot Maney King ("Little Jamie" Watts) is in a Middle Eastern country overseeing oil fields. When Prince Hassan (Richard Scarso) starts a coup to take over the country, Maney escapes with Princess Oneeba (Claudia Russo), his brother's girlfriend. They head to Oakland, California, where his brother – Solomon King (Sal Watts), a former special forces operative and CIA agent – is a rich and influential businessman. When the princess is killed, dying in Solomon's arms, he takes revenge, rounding up his former Green Beret pals to stage a counter-coup. Jimmy Lewis (musician)
James Eddie Lewis (November 19, 1937 – September 11, 2004) was an American soul singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. He was a member of the Drifters in the 1960s, worked as a songwriter and producer with Ray Charles, and wrote songs for Z. Z. Hill among many others. Biography Born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, he moved to Los Angeles, California by the late 1950s. He worked with songwriter Cliff Chambers and arranger James Carmichael (later the producer with The Commodores and Lionel Richie), and released a string of singles on the Cyclone and Four-J labels, including "Wait Until Spring" and "What Can I Do Now", but with limited commercial success. Blaxploitation is an ethnic subgenre of the exploitation film that emerged in the United States during the early 1970s. The term, a portmanteau of the words "black" and "exploitation", was coined in August 1972 by Junius Griffin, the president of the Beverly Hills-Hollywood NAACP branch. He claimed the genre was "proliferating offenses" to the black community in its perpetuation of stereotypical characters often involved in crime. The genre does rank among the first after the race films in the 1940s and 1960s in which black characters and communities are the protagonists and subjects of film and television, rather than sidekicks, antagonists or victims of brutality. Tito Fuentes
Rigoberto Fuentes Peat (born January 4, 1944) is a retired professional baseball player. He played for 13 seasons in the major leagues between 1965 and 1978, primarily as a second baseman. Fuentes played for most of his career with the San Francisco Giants. Professional career The Giants initially signed Fuentes as an 18-year-old amateur before the start of the 1962 season. He was one of the last baseball players signed directly out of Cuba before the United States embargo against Cuba. Fuentes made his major league debut on August 18, 1965.
