"Solo" is a song by Polish singer and model Blanka, released on 23 September 2022. The song is set to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 after winning , Poland's national final for that year's Eurovision Song Contest. Background and composition According to Blanka, the song is about a relationship that is one-sided and a "sham", where one loses "their head for someone" yet the other person in the relationship is "playing ith them" The song represents her belief that "sometimes it's worth being alone and that's OK... we can get to know ourselves better and see that the other person may not be the best for us." Blanka Stajkow
Blanka Stajkow ( bg, Бланка Стайков; born 23 May 1999), known mononymously as Blanka, is a Polish singer and model. She represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Solo", finishing in 19th place. Early life Stajkow was born in Szczecin to a Polish mother who works as a model and a Bulgarian father who is a wealthy businessman. According to Stajkow, neither of her parents have a musical background. Her mother encouraged her from an early age to try various activities, including joining disco dance groups and going to music schools. In an interview, Stajkow mentioned that during mornings, her mother would always turn on either MTV or Trace Urban, which encouraged her to go into the music industry. The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is the upcoming 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. TVP1 (TVP Jeden, ''Program I Telewizji Polskiej'', ''"Jedynka"'') is the main public television channel of TVP (Telewizja Polska S.A.), Poland's national television broadcaster. The (OGAE) () is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation, consisting of 42 Eurovision Song Contest fan clubs from across Europe and beyond. It was founded in 1984 in Savonlinna, Finland by Jaripekka Koikkalainen. Four non-profit competitions are organised by the OGAE every year to promote national popular music to Eurovision fans around the world. The Polish music charts are provided by ZPAV, the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (Polish: Związek Producentów Audio-Video). Albums charts In the 1970s and the 1980s, Polish music monthly ''Non Stop'' published a year-end list of the best selling albums in Poland. In the mid-1990s, two monthly sales lists were launched and published in music magazines.
