Background and development In this EP Nikki Y wanted to get personal with her and her boyfriend. This album talks about her together with her boyfriend. She has kept her relationship personal until now. On her last album ''Little Secret'', she wanted to bring together pop, and jazz. On this album, it is more about her voice. Nikki Yanofsky
Nicole Rachel "Nikki" Yanofsky (born February 8, 1994) is a Canadian jazz-pop singer from Montreal, Quebec. She sang the CTV Olympic broadcast theme song, " I Believe", which was also the theme song of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. She also performed at the opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympics and at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games. She has released three studio albums to date, including ''Nikki'' in 2010, ''Little Secret'' in 2014, and ''Turn Down the Sound'' in 2020. Early life Yanofsky was born and raised in a "close-knit Jewish family" in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her parents are Elyssa (née Rosenthal) and Richard Yanofsky. She has two older brothers, Michael and Andrew. Yanofsky graduated from St. George's School of Montreal. ''Turn Down the Sound'' is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer Nikki Yanofsky, released on July 10, 2020. The album's lead single, "Forget" was released on January 30, 2020, with a meme music video to accompany it. The video premiered the same day on ''Billboard''s website. The second single "Nerve" was released on March 20, 2020, after her Together at Home Instagram live concert. The third single "Loner" was released on May 15, 2020. The album was originally titled ''Black Sheep'', but was changed. In an interview with IHeartRadio Canada, Yanofsky said that ''Turn Down the Sound'' was her first choice for the title of the album, but she faced a lot of criticism within her team from choosing the title. She then decided to change it back last minute because it was "true to herself". The album's title track "Turn Down the Sound" and "Bubbles" were written by Yanofsky with her friend Rod Temperton.
