The Solicitor-General of Leeward Islands is a law officer of the government for Leeward Islands, subordinate to the Attorney General of the Leeward Islands. The office is one of the members of the government. The Solicitor General could also be a member of the General Assembly. The Attorney General of the Leeward Islands was the chief law officer of the Leeward Islands. John Stanley (Hastings MP)
John Stanley (1740 – 1 April 1799) was a British politician and colonial lawyer. He was born the eldest son of Michael Stanley of St. John's on the Caribbean island of Nevis and sent to London to be trained in the law at the Inns of Court in 1758, where he was called to the bar in 1761. He was made bencher in 1797. He returned to the West Indies to practise law and was appointed Solicitor-General of the Leeward Islands for 1771-81 and Attorney General of the Leeward Islands for 1781–99. He was President of the council for 1793–95. He was elected Member of Parliament for Hastings Hastings () is a large seaside town and borough in East Sussex on the south coast of England, east to the county town of Lewes and south east of London. William Colebrooke
Sir William MacBean George Colebrooke, (9 November 1787 – 6 February 1870) was an English career soldier and colonial administrator who became lieutenant governor of New Brunswick in 1841. Life The son of Colonel Paulet Welbore Colebrooke, R.A. (died 1816), and a daughter of Major-General Grant, he was educated at Woolwich, entering the Royal Artillery as a first lieutenant on 12 September 1803. In 1805 he was ordered to the East Indies—first to Ceylon, then in 1806 to Malabar, and back to Ceylon in 1807. He went to India in 1809, and served with the field army there through 1810, becoming a captain on 27 September 1810. Colebrooke next served in Java, and was wounded in the operations against the Dutch in that island in 1811; here he remained under the British occupation, and was deputy quartermaster-general in 1813, being promoted major on 1 June 1813. Henry Spencer Berkeley
Sir Henry Spencer Hardtman Berkeley (6 September 1851 – 30 September 1918 ), was a barrister, Attorney General and Chief Justice of Fiji and Attorney-General of Hong Kong. Early life Berkeley was the third son of Thomas Berkeley Hardtman Berkeley and Alice Hart Rawlins, of St. Kitts. He was educated for the legal profession and called to the bar at the Inner Temple in June 1873. In 1878, Berkeley married Katherine Cassin, daughter of F. S. Cassin of Antigua in the West Indies. They had three children: Katharine Margaret, Marjorie, and Maurice Anthony. Leeward Islands Berkeley was admitted to the bar of the Leeward Islands in July 1874. He filled various legal and official posts in the Leeward Islands. After acting as Attorney General in an interim capacity (1877–1878), he became Solicitor General from 1878 to 1883, when he became Acting Colonial Secretary.
