Sohrab Rahimi
Sohrab Rahimi ( fa, سهراب رحیمی; December 20, 1962 – February 11, 2016), was an Iranian poet, born in Shahrekord, Iran. He has written five books in Persian and two books in Swedish. He has also translated Persian poetry. Rahimi's poems have been translated into various languages. Rahimi's body was found in a burnt car near Malmö on February 11, 2016. He was 53. Shahr-e Kord, Iran
Shahr-e Kord ( fa, شهركرد, also Romanized as Shahrekord and Shahr Kord) is the capital city of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran. It is the largest city in the province, and is 90 km away from Iran's third largest city, Isfahan. At the time of the 2006 census, Shahrekord had a population of about 148,464 and the Shahrekord metropolitan area had a population of 380,312. The city is populated by Persians, Lurs and Turkic people. Etymology Shahr-e Kord, at face value, seems to mean "City of the Kurds". In antiquity, the place had been called "Dezh Gord" (دژگرد), where ''dezh'' (دژ) means "fortress" and ''gord'' (گرد) means "hero". After the Muslim conquest of Persia, the name changed to "Deh Kord" ( fa, دهكرد); ''dezh'' was reinterpreted as ''deh'' (ده) meaning "village" and ''gord'' became ''kord'' because the Arabic alphabet lacks the letters "g" (گ), and "zh" (ژ). Poetry
Poetry (derived from the Greek ''poiesis'', "making"), also called verse, is a form of literature that uses aesthetic and often rhythmic qualities of language − such as phonaesthetics, sound symbolism, and metre − to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, a prosaic ostensible meaning. Azita Ghahreman
Azita Ghahreman (born 1962 Mashhad, Iran) is an Iranian poet. She has written six books in Persian and three books in Swedish. She has also translated American poetry. She has published four collections of poetry: ''Eve's Songs'' (1983), ''Sculptures of Autumn'' (1986), ''Forgetfulness is a Simple Ritual'' (1992) and ''The Suburb of Crows'' (2008), a collection reflecting on her exile in Sweden (she lives in an area called oxie on the outskirts of Malmö) that was published in both Swedish and Persian. A collection of Ghahreman's work was published in Swedish in 2009, alongside the work of Sohrab Rahimi and Kristian Carlsson. She has also translated a collection of poems by the American poet and cartoonist, Shel Silverstein, ''The Place Where the Sidewalk Ends'' (2000), into Persian. Swedish Language
