''Sohoman'' is the sixty-fifth release and tenth live album by Tangerine Dream. Remixed and released in 1999, it is sourced from the first set of the 22 February 1982 concert at the Regent Theatre in Sydney Australia. When compared to fan recordings, ''Sohoman'' was heavily edited in the studio. It is the first in the Tangerine Dream Classics Edition series, preceding '' Soundmill Navigator'' and '' Antique Dreams''. Track listing Other releases ''Leprous Appearance On Wednesday'' is a bootleg LP released in 1984 that contains the same part of the concert as ''Sohoman''. Tangerine Tree
Tangerine Tree was a fan project operating from 2002 through 2006 with the goal of collecting, preserving and distributing unreleased concerts and other audio material by the band Tangerine Dream. The creators of the Tangerine Tree project received permission from Tangerine Dream to release the collection on a strict non-profit basis. Several of the Tangerine Tree volumes have been used as the basis for official Tangerine Dream releases. The project collected just under 300 hours of material (291:39:26). Material was collected from audience recordings, soundboard recordings, recordings of radio and TV transmissions and in some cases the purchase of studio masters. Only recordings of a high quality and a unique nature were considered for the core Tangerine Tree volumes. These recordings were professionally re-mastered and released on CD-R and accompanied by high quality artwork for the CD labels and case liners. Tangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music band founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The group has seen many personnel changes over the years, with Froese having been the only constant member until his death in January 2015. The best-known lineup of the group was its mid-1970s trio of Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. In 1979, Johannes Schmoelling replaced Baumann. Since Froese's death in 2015, the group has been under the leadership of Thorsten Quaeschning (Froese's chosen successor and the current longest-serving band member, having joined in 2005). He was joined by violinist Hoshiko Yamane in 2011, Ulrich Schnauss in 2014 and Paul Frick in 2020. Tangerine Dream are considered a pioneering act in electronica. Regent Theatre (Sydney)
The Regent Theatre was a heritage-listed cinema and entertainment venue in George Street, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, built in 1928 as a flagship for Hoyts, and was demolished in 1988 by property developer Leon Fink. Description and history The Regent Theatre was Hoyts' showcase "picture palace" in Sydney, designed by architect Cedric Ballantyne and built by James Porter & Sons. The 2,297-seat Regent Theatre opened its doors in the heart of the city's entertainment district on 30 March 1928 with ''Flesh and the Devil'', starring Greta Garbo & John Gilbert. It was originally released in 1999, and re-released in 2009. All the tracks appeared on their live album '' Rocking Mars'', which was released in 2005 with four extra tracks. It was recorded at Stadthalle in Osnabrück. Background According to ''Voices in the Net'', in June 1999, Tangerine Dream performed a one-off concert during the Klangart Festival in Osnabrück, presenting their new album ''Mars Polaris — Deep Space Highway To Red Rocks Pavilion''. The whole album was performed, though the track order was changed. The music performed is essentially identical to the studio versions, with some guitar and percussion work added.
