Union Parishad
Union council ( bn, ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ, translit=iūniyan pariṣad, translit-std=IAST), also known as union parishad, rural council, rural union and simply union, is the smallest rural administrative and local government unit in Bangladesh. Each union council is made up of nine wards. Usually one village is designated as a ward. There are 4,562 unions in Bangladesh. A union council consists of a chairman and twelve members including three members exclusively reserved for women. Union councils are formed under the ''Local Government (Union Parishads) Act, 2009''. The boundary of each union council is demarcated by the Deputy Commissioner of the District. Ishwarganj Upazila
Ishwarganj ( bn, ঈশ্বরগঞ্জ) is an upazila of the Mymensingh District in Bangladesh. History The seventeenth century was important to the development of Ishwarganj. The Bhulsoma Mosque was established in 1600 and 25 years after that, the Naluapara Mosque was also constructed. In 1936, Pitalganj was established as a thana. It was renamed to Ishwarganj in honour of a patriotic boatman known as Ishwari Patni. During the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, six Bengali freedom fighters were killed on 16 October in a face-off against the Pakistan Army. On 9 December, Ishwarganj was liberated. Ishwarganj was liberated on 9 December 1971. The thana was upgraded to an upazila in 1983. Geography Ishwarganj has a total area of 286.19 km2. Mymensingh ( bn, ময়মনসিংহ) is a district in Mymensingh Division, Bangladesh, and is bordered on the north by Meghalaya, a state of India and the Garo Hills, on the south by Gazipur District, on the east by the districts of Netrokona and Kishoreganj, and on the west by the districts of Sherpur, Jamalpur and Tangail. Mymensingh Division
Mymensingh Division ( bn, ময়মনসিংহ বিভাগ) is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. It has an area of and a population of 11,370,000 as of the 2011 census. It was created in 2015 from districts previously composing the northern part of Dhaka Division. Its headquarters are in Mymensingh city in Mymensingh District. History The Greater Mymensingh region (Mymensingh District along with five other neighbouring districts) was created as a Mymensingh district by the British Indian government in 1787. Later it was reorganized in two phases into six districts: Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Netrakona, Jamalpur, Tangail, and Sherpur. Gouripur ( bn, গৌরীপুর) is an upazila located in the Mymensingh District of Bangladesh. Demographics According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Gouripur had a population of 323,057. Males constituted 49.44% of the population and females 50.56%. Muslims formed 95.97% of the population, Hindus 3.92%, Christians 0.02% and others 0.11%. Gouripur had a literacy rate of 43.64% for the population 7 years and above. At the 1991 Bangladesh census, Gauripur had a population of 247945, of whom 125,167 were aged 18 or older. Sarisha Union
Sarisha is a village and a gram panchayat within the jurisdiction of the Diamond Harbour police station in the Diamond Harbour II CD block in the Diamond Harbour subdivision of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Geography Area overview Diamond Harbour subdivision is a rural subdivision with patches of urbanization. Only 14.61% of the population lives in the urban areas and an overwhelming 85.39% lives in the rural areas.
