Sogns Tidende
''Sogns Tidend'' was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Sogndal in Sogn og Fjordane county. It was named ''Sogns Tidende'' from 1878 to 1927. It started as ''Sogns Tidende'' in 1878 by Otto Blehr. Blehr was a Liberal Party (Norway), Liberal Party politician, and ''Sogns Tidende'' in general sided with the party. In March 1903 it incorporated the more radically liberal, and Landsmål, newspaper ''Sygna''. The editor-in-chief for many years was Jens Kvåle, formerly of ''Sygna''. The newspaper stopped after its issue on 31 March 1942, during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. It resumed on 17 May 1945, but was incorporated into ''Sogn og Fjordane (newspaper), Sogn og Fjordane'' after its final issue on 17 January 1947. Sogndal
Sogndal is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden in the traditional district of Sogn. The village of Hermansverk is the administrative center of Sogndal municipality. Other villages include Kaupanger, Kjørnes, Fimreite, Nornes, and Fjærland. Sogndal Airport, Haukåsen is located southwest of Kaupanger. The Norwegian dialect spoken in Sogndal is called '' sognamål''. In 1917, a farmer in Sogndal (Kato Linde) plowed up the Eggja stone, a gravestone with runic inscriptions important for the history of the Old Norse language. Sogn Og Fjordane
Sogn og Fjordane (; English: "Sogn and Fjordane") was, up to 1 January 2020, a county in western Norway, when it was merged to become part of Vestland county. Bordering previous counties Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Buskerud, and Hordaland, the county administration was in the village of Hermansverk in Leikanger municipality. The largest town in the county was Førde. Although Sogn og Fjordane has some industry, predominantly hydroelectricity and aluminium, it is predominantly an agricultural area. Sogn og Fjordane is also home to the Urnes Stave Church and the Nærøyfjord, which are both listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. ''Sogn og Fjordane'' was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Leikanger in Sogn og Fjordane county. It was named ''Sogn'' from 1932 to 1936. It started in Leikanger in 1932 by Ivar Tveit under the name ''Sogn''. After trial issues, the first ordinary issue came on 6 January 1933, and except for a period from August 1933 to May 1934 the newspaper was up and running. From 24 April 1936 the name was ''Sogn og Fjordane''. Ivar Tveit had previously edited Liberal and Agrarian newspapers, but ''Sogn og Fjordane'' was a more politically independent venture. In 1936 Einar Svartefoss was hired as a journalist in 1936, and during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany Tveit and Svartefoss shared responsibility. Although both took part in the Norwegian resistance movement, the newspaper survived during the Second World War. The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during the Second World War began on 9 April 1940 after Operation Weserübung. Conventional armed resistance to the German invasion ended on 10 June 1940, and Nazi Germany controlled Norway until the capitulation of German forces in Europe on 8 May 1945. Throughout this period, a pro-German government named Den nasjonale regjering (English: the National Government) ruled Norway, while the Norwegian king Haakon VII and the prewar government escaped to London, where they formed a government in exile.
