Softly (The Sandpipers Album)
''Softly'' was an LP album featuring The Sandpipers, released by A&M Records in August, 1968. The album reached #180 on the Billboard chart. Two singles from the album charted in the top 40 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart: "Quando M'Innamoro" at #16 and the title track at #39. The album was the first Sandpipers album to be issued in stereo only and not in monaural form in the United States; the catalog numbers were SP-4147 in the US and Canada, and AML-918 in the United Kingdom. Pop Music
Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. The terms ''popular music'' and ''pop music'' are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many disparate styles. L'amour Est Bleu
"L'amour est bleu" (; "Love Is Blue") is a song whose music was composed by André Popp, and whose lyrics were written by Pierre Cour, in 1967. Bryan Blackburn later wrote English-language lyrics for it. First performed in French by Greek singer Vicky Leandros (appearing as ''Vicky'') as the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967, it has since been recorded by many other musicians, most notably French orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version (recorded in late 1967) became the first number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in America. The song describes the pleasure and pain of love in terms of colours (blue and grey) and elements (water and wind). The English lyrics ("Blue, blue, my world is blue …") focus on colours only (blue, grey, red, green, and black), using them to describe components of lost love. Moon Over Naples
"Moon Over Naples" is a 1965 instrumental composed and recorded by German bandleader Bert Kaempfert. The instrumental version reached No. 6 on ''Billboard'''s Adult Contemporary chart. It won a BMI Award in 1968. Vocal versions of the song have been recorded as "Spanish Eyes" with lyrics by Eddie Snyder and Charles Singleton. The most notable of these was released by Al Martino, which topped ''Billboard''s Easy Listening chart for 4 weeks in 1966. Lennon–McCartney was the songwriting partnership between English musicians John Lennon (1940–1980) and Paul McCartney (born 1942) of the Beatles. It is the best-known and most successful musical collaboration ever by records sold, with the Beatles selling over 600 million records worldwide as of 2004. Between 5 October 1962 and 8 May 1970, the partnership published approximately 180 jointly credited songs, of which the vast majority were recorded by the Beatles, forming the bulk of their catalogue. "All My Loving" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, from their second UK album ''With the Beatles'' (1963). It was written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney), and produced by George Martin. Though not officially released as a single in the United Kingdom or the United States, the song drew considerable radio airplay, prompting EMI to issue it as the title track of an EP. Donovan Phillips Leitch (born 10 May 1946), known mononymously as Donovan, is a Scottish musician, songwriter, and record producer. He developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelic rock and world music (notably calypso). He has lived in Scotland, Hertfordshire (England), London, California, and—since at least 2008—in County Cork, Ireland, with his family. "Jennifer Juniper" is a song and single by the Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan, released in 1968. It peaked at number 5 in the UK Singles Chart, and at number 26 in the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. AllMusic journalist Matthew Greenwald noted that "capturing all of the innocence of the era perfectly, it's one of his finest singles". Song The track was written about Jenny Boyd, sister of Pattie Boyd, shortly before they went with The Beatles to Rishikesh. Mario Panzeri
Mario Panzeri (11 October 1911 – 19 May 1991) was an Italian lyricist and composer. He is well known for his composed songs that include "Maramao perché sei morto?" "Pippo non lo sa", "Lettera a Pinocchio", and "Grazie dei fior", which won the first edition of the Sanremo Music Festival in 1951. Panzeri was the composer of Sanremo Music Festival 1964 winning song "Non ho l'età". Life and career Born in Milan, Panzeri started his career as a revue actor and singer. Daniele Pace
Daniele Pace (20 April 1935 – 24 October 1985) was an Italian composer, lyricist and singer-songwriter. Life and career Born in Milan, Pace started his career as lead vocalist of the group I Marcellini. After a brief solo career as a singer-songwriter, in the early 1960s he was enrolled by CGD as a composer and lyricist, often teaming with Mario Panzeri. The duo had several hits, and some of their songs were covered in other languages and became international successes. In 1971 he co-founded the comedy music group Squallor, and in 1979 he recorded a solo album, ''Vitamina C''. Roberto Livraghi (born 18 March 1937) is an Italian composer and sport manager. Life and career Born in La Spezia, had his first success as a composer in 1958, with the Don Marino Barreto Jr.'s song "Maria".
