Soft Universe
''Soft Universe'' is the fourth studio album by Australian electronic act Pnau. The album was released in July 2011 by Etcetc and peaked at number 13 on the ARIA Charts; becoming the act's highest charting album to date. The album featured a new "rock-anthem" sound unlike the duo's straightforward electronic dance sound for which they were previously known. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2011, the album was nominated for ARIA Award for Best Dance Release. Pnau
Pnau ( ) is an Australian dance music trio originating from Sydney. The trio, a duo before 2016, consists of the musicians Nick Littlemore (vocals, production), Peter Mayes (guitar, production) and Sam Littlemore (production), with the latter joining in 2016. Pnau has achieved multiple successes with their award-winning 1999 first album ''Sambanova'' and the widely acclaimed 2007 release ''Pnau''. Pnau is also recognised for a heavily publicised apprenticeship under the musician Elton John, who signed the duo after listening to the ''Pnau'' album. Several of Pnau's later projects have had John's involvement, such as the album '' Soft Universe'' and an album of Pnau recreations of Elton John's hits called ''Good Morning to the Night''. Apart from being a member of Pnau, Nick Littlemore also appears as one half of the project Empire of the Sun, which has had multiple chart-topping singles. The 25th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAs) were a series of award ceremonies which included the 2011 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and ARIA Awards. The latter ceremony took place on 27 November at the Allphones Arena, Sydney, and was telecast Nine Network's channel Go! at 7:30pm. Etcetc Music is an independent record label based in Sydney, Australia. It is the label of alternative and electronic bands and artists Pnau, George Maple, Kilter, Paces, San Mei, Luke Million, CLYPSO, Luboku, and the Australian releases of Jax Jones, Fisher, Duke Dumont and Fever Ray. Since June 2013 etcetc has been headed up by former Ministry of Sound A&R and Compilations Manager Aden Mullens, who in October 2018 moved into a General Manager position. The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. Nick Littlemore
Nicholas George Littlemore (born 6 May 1978) is an Australian musician, record producer, singer and songwriter. As a musician, he is the frontman of the electronic duo Pnau, an ex-member of the art-rock band Teenager (band), Teenager and one part of the electro pop-project Empire of the Sun (band), Empire of the Sun. As a record producer, he has worked with Elton John, Lover Lover, Groove Armada and Mika (singer), Mika. From late 2009, Littlemore had worked with the Cirque Du Soleil as a composer and musical director for the touring arena show ''Zarkana'', which debuted on 29 June 2011. His older brother Sam Littlemore, Sam La More is also a musician and record producer. In 2019, he and Peter Mayes launched the label Lab78. Groove Armada
Groove Armada are an English electronic music duo, composed of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay. They achieved chart success with their singles "At the River", "I See You Baby" and "Superstylin'". The duo have released nine studio albums, four of which have charted in the UK Albums Chart top 50. History Groove Armada formed after Cato and Findlay had been introduced by a mutual friend and soon started their own club night in London, called Captain Sensual at the Helm of the Groove Armada, after a 1970s discothèque. By 1997 they had released a few singles, including "4 Tune Cookie" and the song that first brought them minor fame, "At the River", which sampled "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page. ''Walking on a Dream'' is the debut studio album by Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun, released on 3 October 2008 by Capitol Records. The album was produced by band members Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, along with Peter Mayes and Donnie Sloan. It was recorded and mixed by Peter Mayes at Soundworks Music Studio in Sydney at various times throughout 2007, with additional recording by Chris Vallejo at Linear Recording, also in Sydney. In 2010, the song “Half Mast” was sampled on rapper Mac Miller’s song “The Spins”, which was featured on his breakout mixtape '' K.I.D.S.''. Empire of the Sun are an Australian electronic music duo formed in 2007. The duo is a collaboration between Luke Steele, of alternative rock band The Sleepy Jackson, and Nick Littlemore, of electronic dance band Pnau. ARIA Award For Best Dance Release
The ARIA Music Award for Best Dance Release, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. It is handed out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), an organisation whose aim is "to advance the interests of the Australian record industry." To be eligible, the recording (an album or single) must have been commercially released. The award is presented to an artist within the dance genre. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia.
