Sofie Skoog
Sofie Natalie Skoog (born June 7, 1990) is a Sweden, Swedish high jumper. She represented her nation Sweden at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics, 2015 IAAF World Championships, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics, finishing seventh in the final round of the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's high jump, women's high jump. Skoog currently trains as a member of the track and field squad for IF Göta Karlstad, under the tutelage of her coach Stefan Holm, a former high jumper and Athens 2004 champion. Skoog competed for Sweden, along with her fellow countrywoman Erika Kinsey, in the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's high jump, women's high jump at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. 2016 European Athletics Championships
The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event. Due to 2016 being an Olympic year, there was no racewalking and the marathon competition was replaced by half marathon. The Russian team did not participate due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, Yuliya Stepanova was individually cleared by the IAAF to compete as an independent athlete; she participated in the European championships under the flag of the European Athletic Association. 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's High Jump
The women's high jump at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on March 20, 2016. Four athletes were perfect through 1.93, Sofie Skoog, Lavern Spencer, masters world record holder Ruth Beitia and still in high school, Vashti Cunningham, the new indoor world junior record holder. Airinė Palšytė and Kamila Lićwinko also managed the height but with several misses in the competition. At 1.96, Cunningham cleared it with room to spare on her first attempt, keeping the perfect round going, which turned out to be the gold medal performance. Beitia and Lićwinko cleared it on their second attempt with Beitia's perfect round beforehand being the difference for her silver medal. The 16th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics were held between March 17 and 20, 2016 in Portland, Oregon, United States. The event did not feature Russia. Following a WADA investigation into widespread and institutional doping practices in Russian athletics, the IAAF provisionally suspended Russia's membership of the organisation in November 2015, effectively excluding the country both from hosting events and entering competitions.
