Soda Springs (formerly, Summit Valley, Soda Springs Station, Hopkins, Hopkins Springs, and Tinkers Station) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Nevada County, California, United States. Soda Springs is located west of Donner Pass. The population was 81 at the 2010 census. The Soda Springs Ski Resort is located just off Highway 80 near the Donner Summit. History Mark Hopkins and Leland Stanford established a resort at the location in the 1880s. The Summit Valley post office opened in 1870, changed its name to Soda Springs in 1875, and closed in 1881. It was reopened in 1929. The Hopkins post office operated from 1885 to 1886. Alternately it was reportedly known as Hopkins Springs until the Soda Springs post office was established on March 8, 1875. Zzyzx ( ), formerly Soda Springs, is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, within the boundaries of the Mojave National Preserve, managed by the National Park Service (NPS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Interior, as public land. Soda Springs is a city in Caribou County, Idaho, United States. Its population was 3,058 at the time of the 2010 census. The city has been the county seat of Caribou County since the county was organized in 1919. In the 1860s, Soda Springs served as the seat of Oneida County. History The city is named for the hundreds of natural springs of carbonated water that are located in and around the city. The springs were known to Native Americans, and were a landmark along the Oregon Trail in the middle 19th century. Soda Springs, Texas
Soda Springs is an unincorporated community in Caldwell County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, there were no population estimates made to the community in 2000. It is located within the Greater Austin metropolitan area. History Soda Springs was once known as Sour Springs and a post office with that name was established there in 1857 and remained in operation until 1880. It was named that because the nearby springs had a weird taste to it caused by a high sodium carbonate content in the water. It was then changed to Soda Springs. A church and a few scattered houses marked the community on county maps in the 1940s. The community's local springs flowed at a rate of 6.3 liters per second in 1946 but then slowed to only .13 liters per second in 1975.
