Sockbaby
''Sockbaby'' is a four-part martial arts / comedy short film co-directed by Doug TenNapel and John Soares. ''Sockbaby'' originally premiered on Channel 101 (created by Rob Schrab and Dan Harmon) on January 25, 2004. ''Sockbaby'' follows Ronnie Cordova, Burger, and Sockbaby as they battle Davis the Grey, Chum-Chum, Lord Opticord, The Manitou Frogmen, and Doug Jones (actor), Doug Jones in a spoof of Enter the Dragon, 1970's Hong Kong cinema, comic book superheroes, Black Belt Jones, blaxploitation films, and Interdimensional being, interdimensional monsters. John Soares
John Soares is an American film director, actor, editor, and fight choreographer. He is best known for his martial arts fight choreography in ''Sockbaby'', ''Go Sukashi!'', and ''The Danger Element''. Early life Soares was born in Turlock, California, and grew up in the Central Valley (California), Central Valley working on his family's almond farm in the agricultural community of Hughson, California. In 1999, Soares enrolled in film classes at Modesto Junior College where he met his future filmmaking partners Ben Beames and Justin Spurlock. Douglas Richard TenNapel ( ; born July 10, 1966) is an American animator, writer, cartoonist, video game designer, and comic book artist whose work has encompassed animated television, video games, and comic books. He is best known for creating Earthworm Jim, a character that spawned a video game series, animated series, and a toy line. Channel 101 is a non-profit monthly short film festival in Los Angeles, which has a sister festival in New York City, Channel 101 NY. Channel 101 is a creation of Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab in which participants submit a short film in the format of a pilot under five minutes in length. The event is structured such that a panel of previously successful submitters choose what pilots are shown, and a live audience at The Downtown Independent decides which pilots continue as a series for the next screening in much the same way TV programs are rated and managed. According to the Channel 101 website, "Channel 101 is a chance to sit in the worn-out chair of the fat network exec, drunk on the blood of lowly artists whose right to exist is given in exchange for their ability to nourish... You run the network. You pick the programming."
