Society Doctor
''Society Doctor'' is a 1935 American drama film directed by George B. Seitz and starring Robert Taylor, Chester Morris, and Virginia Bruce. It was produced and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was inspired by an unproduced play by Theodore Reeves. Synopsis In a hospital two doctors compete romantically for their colleague Madge Wilson, a nurse. When Doctor Morgan them is fired for taking an ethical stand in conflict yo his superior's tendency to indulge his wealthy clients, he decides to accept an offer to set up a private practice catering to high society. This offends Madge who sees him as being motivated by greed rather than principle and agrees to marry his friend Doctor Ellis even though she is in love with Morgan. Reception According to MGM records the film earned $331,000 in the US and Canada and $203,000 elsewhere, making a profit of $187,000. Dorothy Peterson
Bergetta "Dorothy" Peterson (25 December 1897 - 3 October 1979) was an American actress. She began her acting career on Broadway before appearing in more than eighty Hollywood films. Early years Peterson was born in Hector, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar Frank Peterson and Emily Johnson Peterson. She had a brother, Buford, and was raised in Zion, Illinois. She was of Swedish ancestry. She studied at a dramatic school, performing in adaptations of Greek plays, and then attended the Chicago Musical College. Career Billed by her birth name, Peterson acted with a company in ''Icebound'' at the Montauk Theater in Brooklyn, New York, in September 1923. Richard Tucker (actor)
Richard Tucker (June 4, 1884 – December 5, 1942) was an American actor. Tucker was born in Brooklyn, New York. Appearing in more than 260 films between 1911 and 1940, he was the first official member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and a founding member of SAG's Board of Directors. Tucker died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles from a heart attack. He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in an unmarked niche in Great Mausoleum, Columbarium of Faith. Inez Palange (June 13, 1889 – October 16, 1962), also written as Ines Palange, was an Italian-born American actress who was best known for her role as Mrs. Camonte in the 1932 film '' Scarface''. Biography She was born in Roccasicura, Italy on June 13, 1889. Prior to her film career she was part of Les Iris Palange, a comedy and singing duo with Alberto Palange. At least two of their recordings on Victor records from 1917 are part of the Library of Congress catalogue (and posted to YouTube). They performed in Italian. Heinie Conklin (born Charles John Conklin; July 16, 1880July 30, 1959) was an American actor and comedian whose career began in the silent film era. Early years Conklin was born Charles John Conklin on July 16, 1880, in San Francisco, California. He attended San Francisco's public schools. Career In vaudeville, Conklin headlined shows on the Keith and Orpheum circuits. He was billed as Charles Conklin until 1927. He began working in films in 1915 after 17 years on stage and in vaudeville. One of the original Keystone Kops, Conklin wore makeup of heavy eyebrow lining and a thin, upside-down, painted-on variation of Kaiser Wilhelm's mustache. Eulalie Jensen (December 24, 1884 – October 7, 1952) was an American actress on the New York stage and in silent films. Biography Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she was selected as one of six extra girls from the 200 applicants responding to a New York newspaper ad inserted by Sarah Bernhardt. The famed actress was making a visit to New York City. At this time, Miss Jensen was completely unknown, but this was the beginning of her film career. A number of years of stage experience enabled Jensen to become a fine ''emotional actress''. Her stage engagements included a role in ''The Million'' at the 39th St. Theatre. James Flavin
James William Flavin Jr. (May 14, 1906 – April 23, 1976) was an American character actor whose career lasted for nearly half a century. Early life The son of a hotel waiter of Canadian-English descent,Flavin's obituary, distributed by United Press International, says that he was born in Portland, Oregon. the Portland, Maine-born Flavin attended the United States Military Academy, where he played football. Career Summer stock companies flocked to Maine each year, and in 1929 Flavin was asked to fill in for an actor. He did well with the part and the company manager offered him $150 per week to accompany the troupe back to New York. Flavin accepted and by the spring of 1930, he resided in a rooming house at 108 W. 87th Street in Manhattan. Bobby Watson ( born Robert Watson Knucher; November 28, 1888 – May 22, 1965) was an American theater and film actor, playing a variety of character roles, including, after 1942, Adolf Hitler. John F. Hines (July 25, 1895 – October 24, 1970) was an American actor who had numerous film roles during the silent era, including many starring ones. He appeared in more than 50 films and numerous film shorts. But he did not succeed in transitioning well into talking pictures in the late 1920s, and had only six roles in the 1930s. He last appeared in a bit part in ''Magnificent Doll'' (1946). Jessie Louise Henry Weltz (June 14, 1911 – February 17, 1967) was an American film actress who worked in Hollywood during the 1930s. Early years Henry was the daughter of Dr. Jesse Strauss Heiman, a physician, and his wife, a stage actress named Louise Henry Heiman. Her father was a Syracuse N.Y. native and practiced medicine there until he moved the family to New York City in 1916. Between 1914 and 1916, Louise and her family lived at 1027 Genesee Street in Syracuse, N.Y. By the age of 14 in 1926, Louise was engaged in dancing events throughout Europe and under contract for making movies in Berlin.
