Society Anxiety
Society Anxiety is the debut extended play by Australian nu metal band Sunk Loto. Released in November 1999, it peaked at No. 40 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Background In April 1999 Gold Coast, Queensland nu metal quartet Sunk Loto signed with Epic Records/ Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Their youngest member Dane Brown (drums) was 13 and the oldest, Sean Van Gennip (bass guitar), was 17; others were Dane's older brother Jason Brown (lead vocals) and Luke McDonald (lead guitar). In November that year, they released a five-track extended play, ''Society Anxiety'', which was produced by Paul McKercher ( the Cruel Sea, Spiderbait). Sunk Loto are an Australian alternative metal band formed in Gold Coast, Queensland in 1997. The band's founding members are Dane Brown on drums, his brother Jason Brown on vocals, Luke McDonald on guitar and Sean Van Gennip on bass guitar. Sunk Loto signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia when the members' average age was 16 years. They released two studio albums, ''Big Picture Lies'' (13 October 2000) and ''Between Birth and Death'' (17 November 2003); both reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 50. The group disbanded in December 2007, and after a 15-year hiatus the original members have re-formed the band in 2022. Nu metal (sometimes stylized as nü-metal, sometimes called aggro-metal) is a subgenre of that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge. Paul McKercher
Paul McKercher is an Australian record producer, audio engineer, sound mixer and multi-instrumentalist. He has received five ARIA Artisan Awards and has produced over 50 albums. McKercher has worked with Australian artists Josh Pyke, Bertie Blackman, Papa vs Pretty, Sarah Blasko, You Am I, Pete Murray, Motor Ace and Eskimo Joe. An avowed analogue fan, he specialises in the use of tape, although he also uses digital technologies. Biography Paul McKercher worked at national youth radio station, Triple J, for three years. In 1991 he and fellow audio engineer John Jacobs created the "JJJ News Theme" as a mix of McKercher's guitar playing, a scratch of N.W.A.'s "Fuck tha Police" and the orchestral ABC News theme, "Majestic Fanfare", with the beat based on Prince's "Gett Off".
