Socialist Party Of Kazakhstan
The Socialist Party of Kazakhstan (, QSP) was a political party in Kazakhstan that existed from 1991 to 2003. History The party was founded at the 18th Extraordinary Congress of the Communist Party on 7 September 1991 where the party voted to rename itself to Socialist Party. Anuar Alimzhanov was chosen to be the first chairman. The party became registered on 21 October 1991 and that same month, dissatisfied members over the party's reformation split off from the Socialist Party and reestablished the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. The party's success came in the 1994 Kazakh legislative election, where it won 8 seats, however, over time, the Socialist Party began to lose support among the population. Its membership decreased from about 49,000 to just 35,000 by 1996. The party performed poorly in the 1995 Kazakh legislative election losing 7 seats, leaving it with just only one. Anuar Turlybekuly "Anuarbek" Alimzhanov ( kk, Әнуар Тұрлыбекұлы Әлімжанов, Änwar Turlıbekulı Älimjanov; 2 May 1930 – 9 November 1993) was a Soviet and Kazakh writer, publicist, public figure and politician. From October 29 to December 26, 1991, he headed the Soviet of Republics of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, which adopted the Declaration on the termination of the existence of the USSR. Biography He was born on May 2, 1930 in the village of Karlygash, Taldykorgan region. It comes from the Bolatshy subgenus of the Karakeri genus of the Naiman tribe. From 1949 to 1954 he studied at the Kazakh State University in Alma-Ata. In 1953 he joined the CPSU. After graduating from the Faculty of Journalism, he worked as correspondent for Literaturnaya Gazeta (Moscow) in Central Asia and Kazakhstan. 1994 Kazakh Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Kazakhstan on 7 March 1994, alongside local elections. The People's Union of Kazakhstan Unity emerged as the largest party with 33 of the 177 seats, although 64 independents were also elected. Legislative elections were held in Kazakhstan on 9 December 1995, with a second round on 23 December. The result was a victory for the People's Union of Kazakhstan Unity, which won 25 of the 67 seats.
