The Social Democrats ( ky, Социал-демократтар, translit=Sotsial-demokrattar; russian: Социал-демократы, translit=Sotsial-demokraty; SDK) is a political party in Kyrgyzstan founded in late 2019 by supporters of former President Almazbek Atambayev that split from the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDKP). After a conflict between Atambaev and his successor President Sooronbai Jeenbekov emerged and deepened in 2018, Atambayev accused of Jeenbekov in attempting to seize authority over the SDKP, a party that Atambayev himself formed in 1990s and served as a leader of. The SDK participated in the annulled 2020 parliamentary election. Current party leader is Temirlan Sultanbekov. In the 2021 parliamentary election, the main candidate from the SDK was Almazbek's youngest son, Kadyrbek Atambaev. Temirlan Medetbekovich Sultanbekov is a Kyrgyz politician. He is the leader of the party Social Democrats (Kyrgyzstan), Social Democrats in the Kyrgyz Republic. Biography Temirlan Medetbekovich Sultanbekov was born on September 12, 1998, in a military family in the town of Balykchy, Issyk-Kul Region, in Eastern Kyrgyzstan. His father, Medet Sultanbekov, is a colonel and ex-head of the main department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, and is a co-author with European researchers of a number of books. His mother, Kyyal Toktorbaev, is a retired officer of the border troops of the Kyrgyz Republic. In politics Sultanbekov joined the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, SDPK party at 18. From 2018 to 2019, he was the official representative of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, Social Democrats of Kyrgyzstan in the Russian Federation.
