Social Democratic Party of Madagascar (french: Parti Social Démocrate de Madagascar et des Comores, PSD) is a political party in Madagascar. History The party was founded in 1956 in Majunga district as the Social Democratic Party of Madagascar and the Comoros. It was led by Philibert Tsiranana, a member of the French National Assembly. 1972 Malagasy Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Madagascar on 30 January 1972. Incumbent List of Presidents of Madagascar, President Philibert Tsiranana of the Social Democratic Party of Madagascar, Social Democratic Party was the only candidate, and won the approval of 99.7% of voters. However, public unrest led to him handing over power to General Gabriel Ramanantsoa. Ramanantsoa put forward proposals for a five-year transition period during which the National Assembly would be suspended.
