Social Democratic Initiative (Kosovo)
The Social Democratic Initiative ''(Albanian: Nisma Socialdemokrate)'' also known as NISMA, is a political party in Kosovo formed by Fatmir Limaj and Jakup Krasniqi, former members of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). Limaj is party leader. Secretary Jakup Krasniqi's involvement in the Pronto Affair wiretapping scandal was the culmination of a split of PDK. Sami Lushtaku (mayor of Skenderaj and PDK leader) together with Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi and Adem Grabovci, had insulted the Chairman of the Assembly of Kosovo Jakup Krasniqi and offended citizens of Mališevo, referring to them as dog walkers. Fatmir Limaj
Fatmir Limaj (born 4 February 1971), is a Kosovo-Albanian politician. He is the leader of ''Nisma për Kosovën''. Limaj served as Minister of Transport and Telecommunication in the government of the Republic of Kosova. He was known as "Çeliku" during the Yugoslav wars. Biography Fatmir Limaj is a politician from Banjë, a village in Malishevë, Kosovo. Kosovo is the birthplace of the Albanian nationalist movement which emerged as a response to the Eastern Crisis of 1878. In the immediate aftermath of the Russo-Ottoman war, the Congress of Berlin proposed partitioning Ottoman Albanian inhabited lands in the Balkans among neighbouring countries. Kosovo Liberation Army
The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA; , UÇK) was an ethnic Albanian separatist militia that sought the separation of Kosovo, the vast majority of which is inhabited by Albanians, from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) and Serbia during the 1990s. Albanian nationalism was a central tenet of the KLA and many in its ranks supported the creation of a Greater Albania, which would encompass all Albanians in the Balkans, stressing Albanian culture, ethnicity and nation. 2013 Kosovan Local Elections
Local elections were held in Kosovo on 3 November 2013, with a second round on 1 December. These were the first elections which the Serbs of Northern Kosovo participated in since the Republic of Kosovo declared independence in 2008; polls were monitored by the OSCE. Mališevo
Malisheva, ) is a town and municipality in Kosovo. According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) estimate from the 2011 census, there were 54,613 people residing in Malisheva Municipality, with Kosovo Albanians constituting the majority of the population. History The population of the town has historically been predominantly Kosovo Albanian. The town was largely destroyed by Serbian forces in 1998. Town residents only returned following the 1998 withdrawal of Serbian paramilitary police and military, in response to international pressures. Adem Grabovci
Adem Grabovci (born 9 April 1960) is a Kosovan politician and a secretary of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. Early activity Adem Grabovci was born in the village of Staraduran, Pejë. He was a political prisoner from 1984 to 1989 and pioneered the reconciliation of blood feuds in 1990. After fleeing to Switzerland, he served as chairman of the People's Movement of Kosovo branch in Switzerland and was a member of the Popular Movement for the diaspora. He was one of the founders of the fund "Homeland Calling" ( sq, Vendlindja therret) which collected financial contribution from Albanian diaspora during the war. He was one of the founders of the KLA, and a member of the General Staff of the KLA.
