Soccer Bowl '76 was the championship final of the 1976 NASL season, between the Toronto Metros-Croatia and the Minnesota Kicks. The match was played on August 28, 1976 at the Kingdome, in Seattle, Washington. The Toronto Metros-Croatia won the match, 3–0, to claim their first North American championship. The Soccer Bowl was the annual championship game of the North American Soccer League, which ran from 1968 to 1984. The two top teams from the playoffs faced off in the final to determine the winner of the NASL Trophy. From the league's founding in 1968 through 1974, the championship game (or series, as it was played through 1971) was known as the NASL Championship Final, and in 1984 the single game was replaced by a best-of-three series known as the Soccer Bowl Series. San Jose Earthquakes (1974–88)
The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. The Earthquakes compete as a member club of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Tadeusz Polak
Tadeusz Polak (born November 17, 1944) is a Polish former footballer who played in the Ekstraklasa, North American Soccer League, and the National Soccer League. Polak began his career with Wisła Kraków of the Ekstraklasa in 1958. He recorded his first goal for the club on October 14, 1964 against Karpaty Krosno. In total he played in 185 matches, recorded fifteen goals, and won the Polish Cup in 1967. In 1974, he went overseas to Canada to sign with Toronto Metros-Croatia of the North American Soccer League. He featured in the Soccer Bowl '76 against Minnesota Kicks and won the championship by a score of 3-0. In 1979, he signed with the Toronto Falcons of the National Soccer League. Robert Iarusci
Robert Iarusci (born November 8, 1954) is a former star NASL player and member of the Canadian national soccer team. In 2012 as part of the Canadian Soccer Association's centennial celebration, he was named to the all-time Canada XI men's team. Club career A right back, Iarusci played in the National Soccer League with Toronto Italia in 1973. He would play with Italia for three seasons from 1973 till 1975. He began his NASL career with his hometown Toronto Metros-Croatia, playing the 1976 and part of 1977. He played every game as the Toronto won the league championship in 1976. Iarusci played nearly the entire 1977 season in Toronto, but was traded at the end of the season to the New York Cosmos where he saw time in one game in 1977. Filip Blašković (born 5 July 1945) is a Croatian retired football player. Club career Nicknamed ''Šiljo'', Blašković started his career with hometown club BSK Slavonski Brod and joined Dinamo Zagreb in 1966, where he formed a formidable tandem with Mladen Ramljak and won the 1967 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Željko Bilecki (April 28, 1950 – April 26, 2023) was a Canadian soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Bilecki played at the youth level with Toronto Croatia's junior team in 1969. In 1970, he played in the National Soccer League with Toronto Croatia's senior team. He was named the league's top goalkeeper twice in 1971, and 1972. In 1974, he assisted in securing the NSL Championship against Toronto Homer. For the 1975 season he played in the North American Soccer League with Toronto Metros-Croatia. He later played for three other NASL sides in the United States: Tampa Bay Rowdies, Los Angeles Aztecs and Tulsa Roughnecks.
