"So Far" is a show tune from the 1947 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical ''Allegro'' when it was introduced by the character "Beulah" played by Gloria Wills. On July 28, 1947 (see 1947 in music), the song was recorded by Perry Como, and released by RCA Victor Records as a 78rpm single, catalog number 20-2402-A, with the flip side "A Fellow Needs a Girl". The song reached #11 on the Billboard charts. Other versions were recorded by Frank Sinatra and by Margaret Whiting. Sinatra's version also charted in 1947 reaching the No. 8 position. Oscar Greeley Clendenning Hammerstein II (; July 12, 1895 – August 23, 1960) was an American lyricist, librettist, theatrical producer, and (usually uncredited) director in the musical theater for almost 40 years. He won eight Tony Awards and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song. Many of his songs are standard repertoire for vocalists and jazz musicians. He co-wrote 850 songs. He is best known for his collaborations with composer Richard Rodgers, as the duo Rodgers and Hammerstein, whose musicals include ''Oklahoma!'', '' Carousel'', '' South Pacific'', ''The King and I'', and ''The Sound of Music''. ''State Fair'' is a musical with a book by Tom Briggs and Louis Mattioli, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and music by Richard Rodgers. Phil Stong's original 1932 novel, ''State Fair'', was first adapted for film in 1933 in a production starring Will Rogers. Anthony Dominick Benedetto (born August 3, 1926), known professionally as Tony Bennett, is an American retired singer of traditional pop standards, big band, show tunes, and jazz. Bennett is also a painter, having created works under his birth name that are on permanent public display in several institutions. ''Look at Me Now!'' is an album from Dick Haymes. Released in 1957, with Cy Coleman at the piano, arranged & conducted by Maury Laws. As his previous albums for Capitol had been unsuccessful, Haymes struck out on his own with this LP. He had been turned down by all of the major labels and he eventually used a small L. A. company to distribute the album. Christopher Loudon writing in ''Jazz Times'' commented: "Though the album features decent (if occasionally overwhelming) arrangements, backing by the Maury Laws Orchestra and Cy Coleman at the piano, the limits of Haymes’ financial backing are evident in the extremely poor production values. So budget-driven was the project that, to reduce royalty fees, only 10 of the dozen recorded tracks were included on the finished album." Richard Benjamin Haymes (September 13, 1918 – March 28, 1980) was an Argentinian singer and actor. He was one of the most popular male vocalists of the 1940s and early 1950s. He was the older brother of Bob Haymes, an actor, television host, and songwriter. Background Haymes was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1918.
