Centropomidae
''Centropomus'' is a genus of predominantly marine fish comprising the family Centropomidae. The type species is ''Centropomus undecimalis'', the common snook. Commonly known as snooks or ''róbalos'', the ''Centropomus'' species are native to tropical and subtropical waters of the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific Oceans. Prior to 2004, the subfamily Latinae, which contained three genera, was placed within the Centropomidae; this has since been raised to the family level and renamed Latidae because a cladistic analysis showed the old Centropomidae to be paraphyletic. This has left ''Centropomus'' as the only remaining genus in this family. These are popular game and food fish. Dating from the upper Cretaceous, the centropomids are of typical percoid shape, distinguished by having two-part dorsal fins, a lateral line that extends onto the tail, and frequently, a concave shape to the head. The cutlassfishes are about 45 species of predatory fish in the family Trichiuridae of the order Scombriformes found in seas throughout the world. Fish of this family are long, slender, and generally steely blue or silver in colour, giving rise to their name. They have reduced or absent pelvic fin, pelvic and caudal fins, giving them an eel-like appearance, and large fang-like teeth. Some of the species are known as scabbardfishes or hairtails; others are called frostfishes because they appear in late autumn and early winter, around the time of the first frosts. Snook (band)
Snook () is a Swedish rap group from Stockholm. The group consists of Oskar "Kihlen" Linnros and Daniel "Danne" Adams-Ray. The group often makes fun of traditional rap and tries to reinvent it. They have released two full-length albums and several singles. In the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen, they won the award for Best Swedish Act. Linnros and Adams-Ray met in high school, Viktor Rydberg Gymnasium Odenplan. They formed ''Snook'' (snok is a Swedish slang term for "nose") in 2000. The group's first single ''1990 nånting'' (Eng: "1990 something"), featuring Afasi & Filthy, became a big hit in Sweden. ''It's a Big Big World'' is an American children's television series that aired on PBS Kids from January 2, 2006, to January 8, 2010. Snook is a city in Burleson County, Texas, United States. The population was 506 at the 2020 census. Snook is home to Frank Sodolak of Sodolak's Original Country Inn, the inventor and first known restaurant to serve chicken fried bacon. Snook is also home to Slovacek Sausage Company. Snook is the home of Chilifest, an annual charity event held since 1991 that attracts some of the biggest names in country music for a two-day chili cook-off and concert. Rancho San Bernardo was a Mexican land grant in present-day San Diego County, California with two square leagues given in 1842 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado and an additional two square leagues given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to José Francisco Snook.
