Snapshots (Eleanor McEvoy Album)
''Snapshots'', Eleanor McEvoy's third studio album, was released in 1999. McEvoy's primary goal was to make ''Snapshots'' her most song-oriented album to date. Toward that goal, McEvoy hooked up with producer Rupert Hine (who worked with Stevie Nicks, Tina Turner, Suzanne Vega, and Duncan Sheik). The extensive use of drum loops on the album was a complete change in style from McEvoy's previous work. This is McEvoy's only album on which she does not play violin. Before the overdub sessions, she was attacked whilst walking down the street on the way home from the studio and her hand broken, although she recovered completely. Columbia Records had not been prepared for these changes and not long after the release of ''Snapshots'' McEvoy was dropped; her subsequent recordings were on independent labels. ''Snapshots'' is the 12th studio album and the first covers album by British singer Kim Wilde. It was released in Germany on 26 August 2011 by Columbia SevenOne. The album features versions of songs hand-picked by Wilde from the last five decades. It was later released in other European countries, including the United Kingdom, on 28 November 2011. Background The album was preceded by its lead single, which is a double release of " It's Alright" and "Sleeping Satellite", originally recorded by East 17 and Tasmin Archer respectively. They were released on 19 August 2011 and both songs have an accompanying music video. Also on the album is a duet with her husband Hal Fowler on the final track " Kooks", originally by David Bowie. In computer systems, a snapshot is the state of a system at a particular point in time. The term was coined as an analogy to that in photography. It can refer to an actual copy of the state of a system or to a capability provided by certain systems. Rationale A full backup of a large data set may take a long time to complete. On multi-tasking or multi-user systems, there may be writes to that data while it is being backed up. This prevents the backup from being atomic and introduces a version skew that may result in data corruption. For example, if a user moves a file into a directory that has already been backed up, then that file would be completely missing on the backup media, since the backup operation had already taken place before the addition of the file. Version skew may also cause corruption with files which change their size or contents underfoot while being read. A snapshot is a photograph that is "shot" spontaneously and quickly, most often without artistic or journalistic intent and usually made with a relatively cheap and compact camera. Common snapshot subjects include the events of everyday life, often portraying family members, friends, pets, children playing, birthday parties and other celebrations, sunsets, tourist attractions and the like. Snapshots can be technically "imperfect" or amateurish: poorly framed or composed, out of focus, and/or inappropriately lighted by flash. Automated settings in consumer cameras have helped to obtain a technologically balanced quality in snapshots. Use of such settings can reveal the lack of expert choices that would entail more control of the focus point and shallower depth of field to achieve more pleasing images by making the subject stand out against a blurred background. Snapshot (file Format)
The SNP file format was used by Microsoft Access to store Report Snapshots in a single file which can be viewed and printed by the Microsoft Snapshot Viewer, a Windows program available free of charge from Microsoft that allows report output to be viewed without requiring Access. Support for the format was discontinued in Access 2010 and later versions; Access reports can be exported in PDF/XPS and Excel formats viewable on many platforms. SNP files are based on the Microsoft Compound File Binary Format (CFBF), which is also the basis for the Advanced Authoring Format (AAF). CFBF is a reasonably simple container format which can store multiple files, directories and so on. Brandon Winn Sanderson (born December 19, 1975) is an American author of high fantasy and science fiction. ''Snapshot'' is a platform game developed by Retro Affect and released on 30 August 2012 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Gameplay The player controls a character with fairly standard 2-D controls: left, right, duck, and jump. The player also controls a camera viewfinder, the Snapshot of the title, with the mouse. When a snapshot is taken of an in-game object, it disappears from the gameworld and is stored on the camera; the stored images can then be pasted into new parts of the gameworld to overcome an obstacle. The objects and elements that can be captured have a wide range of different properties or utilities, such as elephants that serve as walking springboards or gusts of wind that can push the player across long gaps.
