Snail Press Publications
Snail Press Publications is an independent publishing company based in Los Angeles that specializes in limited edition fine art books, poetry and literature. Founded in 2010 by Zelda Nader. In 2010, the first publication was a large hardcover art book entitled “Insouciance,” which featured selected works from fine artist America Martin (artist), America Martin. The next project, "The Enthusiast," was a double-sided paperback book of poems by author and filmmaker Noah Gershman. In 2013, Snail Press will produce another large hardcover art book from America Martin entitled, "YES," with selected works from 2009 to 2012, and a hardcover slipcase book entitled "Green Candle," a series of essays by playwright Brian Torrey Scott. In 2014, "In the Wake of Sydney Jack" will be released, a non-linear series of short stories of Southern humor and tragedy by Thom Thinn. References

A snail is, in loose terms, a shelled gastropod. The name is most often applied to land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod molluscs. However, the common name ''snail'' is also used for most of the members of the molluscan class Gastropoda that have a coiled shell that is large enough for the animal to retract completely into. When the word "snail" is used in this most general sense, it includes not just land snails but also numerous species of sea snails and freshwater snails. Gastropods that naturally lack a shell, or have only an internal shell, are mostly called ''slugs'', and land snails that have only a very small shell (that they cannot retract into) are often called '' semi-slugs''. Snails have considerable human relevance, including as food items, as pests, and as vectors of disease, and their shells are used as decorative objects and are incorporated into jewelry. America Martin (artist)
America Martin (born 1980) is an American painter and sculptor. Referring to herself as a painting anthropologist, Martin's primary subject is the human form. Her style mixes abstract and indigenous motifs and has been compared to the mid-century masters. She credits her Colombian roots for her aesthetic and tastes. Martin is represented and collected internationally. Family and early life America was born in Los Angeles in 1980 to a family of artists. Her uncle is painter Knox Martin; her father is artist, matador, and author Ernest J. T. Martin; her mother is an academic, and her siblings all went on to pursue careers in the arts. She began drawing at age nine after discovering the work of Vincent van Gogh. Brian Torrey Scott
Brian Torrey Scott (July 28, 1976 – November 29, 2013) was an American writer. He wrote for Rosetta Stone in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Scott previously taught Adventures and Ridiculousness at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and English at Columbia College Chicago. Biography Scott was born on July 28, 1976 in Dallas, Texas to Torrie (Scott) Lloyd, a Realtor and his brother Andrew Scott, an adventurer and real estate entrepreneur. He graduated from Richardson High School as a National Honor Society Scholar and performed his first award-winning play, EZRA, in 1994. He received his BA degree from Southern Methodist University with honors in 1998 where he was a winner of the New Visions New Voices competition. In 2001, Scott was awarded a place in the Master's Writing Program at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
