Smoke Testing (software)
In computer programming and software testing, smoke testing (also confidence testing, sanity testing,ISTQB® Glossary for the International Software Testing Qualification Board® software testing qualification schemeISTQB GlossaryInternational Software Testing Qualification Board. build verification test (BVT) and build acceptance test) is preliminary testing to reveal simple failures severe enough to, for example, reject a prospective software release. Smoke tests are a subset of test cases that cover the most important functionality of a component or system, used to aid assessment of whether main functions of the software appear to work correctly.Dustin, Rashka, Paul. "Automated Software Testing -Introduction, Management, and Performance". Addison-Wesley 1999, p. 43-44. . When used to determine if a computer program should be subjected to further, more fine-grained testing, a smoke test may be called an intake test. Alternatively, it is a set of tests run on each new build of a p ...

Computer Programming
Computer programming is the process of performing a particular computation (or more generally, accomplishing a specific computing result), usually by designing and building an executable computer program. Programming involves tasks such as analysis, generating algorithms, profiling algorithms' accuracy and resource consumption, and the implementation of algorithms (usually in a chosen programming language, commonly referred to as coding). The source code of a program is written in one or more languages that are intelligible to programmers, rather than machine code, which is directly executed by the central processing unit. The purpose of programming is to find a sequence of instructions that will automate the performance of a task (which can be as complex as an operating system) on a computer, often for solving a given problem. Proficient programming thus usually requires expertise in several different subjects, including knowledge of the application domain, specialized algori ...

Code Review
Code review (sometimes referred to as peer review) is a software quality assurance activity in which one or several people check a program mainly by viewing and reading parts of its source code, and they do so after implementation or as an interruption of implementation. At least one of the persons must not be the code's author. The persons performing the checking, excluding the author, are called "reviewers". Although direct discovery of quality problems is often the main goal, code reviews are usually performed to reach a combination of goals: * ''Better code quality'' improve internal code quality and maintainability (readability, uniformity, understandability, etc.) * ''Finding defects'' improve quality regarding external aspects, especially correctness, but also find performance problems, security vulnerabilities, injected malware, ... * ''Learning/Knowledge transfer'' help in transferring knowledge about the codebase, solution approaches, expectations regarding quality, e ...
