''Slán leis an gCeol'' () is a 2019 film documenting the life of Tony MacMahon, an Irish traditional musician. The film was directed and produced by Irish filmmaker Cathal Ó Cuaig. The film premiered at the Temple Bar TradFest on the 26 January 2019 and was attended by the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins as guest of honour. This screening was followed by a Q&A with Tony MacMahon and Cathal Ó Cuaig, hosted by Tristan Rosenstock. Tony MacMahon
Tony MacMahon (18 April 1939 – 8 October 2021) was an Irish button accordion player and radio and television broadcaster. MacMahon's chief early inspiration, accordionist Joe Cooley, was a frequent caller at the MacMahon home in Ennis, Co. Clare from 1949 until 1954, when Cooley left Ireland for the United States of America. MacMahon has described the memory of Cooley's music as being "embedded in his DNA.". In 1957, MacMahon moved to Dublin to train as a teacher, where he came into contact with accordionist Sonny Brogan and fiddler John Kelly. Travelling in North America in 1964, in both New York and Dublin, he shared a flat with piper and singer Seamus Ennis, whom he credited as an important influence on his playing of slow airs. TradFest Temple Bar is an annual music and culture festival that takes place in late January in Dublin, Ireland. Téada, an Irish band, plays traditional music. Téada is Irish for "strings". The five members of the band are fiddle player Oisín Mac Diarmada, button accordion player Paul Finn, Damien Stenson performs on flute, Seán Mc Elwain switches between the bouzouki and guitar and bodhrán player Tristan Rosenstock. Tuairisc.ie is an online Irish language newspaper. The company's offices are in Bearna. Tuairisc.ie receives state funding through Foras na Gaeilge. History Tuairisc Bheo Teoranta won a competition run by Foras na Gaeilge to provide an Irish language news-service on-line in 2014. The Dingle International Film Festival (DIFF'':'' Irish Gaelic: ''Féile Scannán Idirnáisiúnta an Daingin'') was a film festival held annually in March that took place between 2007 and 2019 in Dingle, Ireland.
