Slunce, Seno, Jahody
''Slunce, seno, jahody'' (''Sun, hay, strawberries'') is a Czech comedy film made in 1983, usually regarded as one of the classics of the Czech comedy industry. Written and directed by Zdeněk Troška, it was filmed and set in Hoštice, a small rural village in the Czech portion of the former Czechoslovakia. It is a play on the perceived stereotypes of daily life in a village community. Plot A Czech agricultural student, Šimon Plánička, arrives at the small South Bohemian town of Hoštice, and joins the local JZD (agricultural co-op) with the intention of trying out his experiment regarding the "Milk yield of cows in regards to a cultured environment". He runs into difficulty with the directorship of the JZD, but he finds them eager to help once they hear he's the son of the local agricultural commissioner, as his last name is also Plánička. Zdeněk Troška
Zdeněk Troška (born 18 May 1953) is a Czech film director and screenwriter. He mainly directs comedies and fairy-tale films. Personal life Troška is deeply connected with the South Bohemian Region. He was born in the hospital in Strakonice, but he grew up in Hoštice, where he still lives and where he filmed several of his films (mostly notably the ''Slunce, seno...'' trilogy). He studied directing at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and also at Lycée Carnot in Dijon, France. Work Troška ranks among contradictory and sometimes controversial directors. Although he is educated and receives offers to direct classical operas and film dramas like '' Andělská tvář'' (2002), he is most famous for cheap comedies and fairy tales intended for an undemanding audience. Jiřina Jirásková
Jiřina Jirásková (17 February 1931 – 7 January 2013) was a Czech actress. She was born and died in Prague, Czech Republic. Biography She studied at the Prague Conservatory and later at DAMU. After graduating, she spent one year in a regional theatre in Hradec Králové. In 1951, aged 20, she moved to the Prague's Vinohrady Theatre, where she spent her entire career. From 30 May 1990 to 30 June 2000, she was also the director of the theatre. Jirásková began to appear in TV in the 1950s; she played in the first Czechoslovak TV series ''Rodina Bláhova'' (Bláha Family). She got her first on-screen opportunity in the spy drama ''Smyk'', directed Zbyněk Brynych. Jiří Lábus (born 26 January 1950, in Prague) is a Czech actor. His brother is the Czech architect Ladislav Lábus. In 1973, he graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and joined the theatre Studio Ypsilon, where he remains employed to this day. He also appeared several times as guest actor in other theatres ( National Theatre, Theatre Viola, Theatre Ungelt). He performed several roles in both television and film. He gained popularity in Germany for his role of evil wizard Rumburak in the TV series '' Arabela''. ''Deník'' is a regional daily newspaper in the Czech Republic. History and profile ''Denik'' is published by Vltava Labe Media (VLM), which since November 2015 is owned by Penta Investments. Before that it was owned by German publishing company Verlagsgruppe Passau (VGP). VGP has a monopoly on the Czech regional press. In September 2006, regional newspapers across the country were rebranded to ''Deník'' with a regional adjective appended, e.g. Pražský deník (Prague deník). As well as the Prague version, a further 72 regional newspapers were branded as part of this launch.
