Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant (, ) is a Thermal power station, thermal power plant in Mykolaivka, Donetsk Oblast, Mykolaivka, near the city of Sloviansk, in northern Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine. History Construction The construction of the plant began in March 1951, and by September 1954 the first turbine went into service, with a power of 100 MW. In June 1957, the first phase of construction was completed, with five turbines, each with a power of 100 MW. The second phase of construction commenced in 1964. Donbas
The Donbas or Donbass (, ; uk, Донба́с ; russian: Донба́сс ) is a historical, cultural, and economic region in eastern Ukraine. Parts of the Donbas are controlled by Russian separatist groups as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian War: the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic. Donbasenergo ( uk, Донбасенерго) is a regional power generation company operating in the eastern part of Ukraine. The company was established in 1995 as a result of restructuring of the Ukrainian power sector. It owns and operates power stations in Slovyansk (880 MW) and Starobesheve (1,685 MW), Donetsk Oblast. The total installed capacity of the company is 2,820 MW and it has 4.6% market share of the Ukrainian electricity market and 11.6% share of the Ukrainian heat market. Thermal Power Station
A thermal power station is a type of power station in which heat energy is converted to electrical energy. In a steam-generating cycle heat is used to boil water in a large pressure vessel to produce high-pressure steam, which drives a steam turbine connected to an electrical generator. The low-pressure exhaust from the turbine enters a steam condenser where it is cooled to produce hot condensate which is recycled to the heating process to generate more high pressure steam. This is known as a Rankine cycle. The design of thermal power stations depends on the intended energy source: fossil fuel, nuclear and geothermal power, solar energy, biofuels, and waste incineration are all used. Certain thermal power stations are also designed to produce heat for industrial purposes; for district heating; or desalination of water, in addition to generating electrical power. Mykolaivka ( uk, Микола́ївка, ; russian: Николаевка) is a city of district significance and administrative centre of Mykolaivka urban hromada in Sloviansk Raion, Donetsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine to the south of the railway station Elektrychna.
