Slovenia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2020
Slovenia originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "" written by Ana Soklič and Bojan Simončič. The song was performed by Ana Soklič. Slovenian broadcaster (RTV Slovenija) organised the national final ''EMA'' in order to select the Slovenian entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. 18 entries competed in the first stage of the national final, ''EMA FREŠ 2020'', from which two entries qualified to compete in ''EMA 2020'' following a two-month-long competition. Twelve entries competed in ''EMA 2020'' where the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, the top two entries were selected by a three-member jury panel. In the second round, "" performed by Ana Soklič was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote. Tanja Ribič (born 28 June 1968) is a Slovenian actress and singer. Biography Ribič graduated from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana. She has been a member of Ljubljana City Theatre since 1992. She represented Slovenia at Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song " Zbudi se", which finished tenth. Her most noticeable role on television was when she played Magda Velepič in the Slovenian TV series ''Naša mala klinika''. Tinkara Kovač (born 3 September 1978) is a Slovenian singer and musician. She represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, finishing in 25th place. Career Career in general Her professional career as a singer started in 1997, when she won "Most promising singer award" at the Portorož festival. Her appearance was encouraged by known local composer Danilo Kocjančič, which together with lyrics writer Drago Mislej – Mef and Marino Legovič wrote the winning song and later the whole material for her first album. Sara Briški Cirman (born 26 April 1996), better known by her stage name Raiven, is a Slovenian singer, songwriter, and harpist. She first garnered wide recognition while competing to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 for Slovenia during the national final ''Evrovizijska Melodija'' (''EMA'') with the song "Črno bel", where she placed second. Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, having internally selected Joker Out to represent the country with the song "", written by band members , Jan Peteh, Jure Maček, Kris Guštin and Nace Jordan, alongside Žarko Pak. Joker Out were announced as the Slovenian entrants to the contest on 8 December 2022, whilst their song was presented to the public in a televised presentation show, , on 4 February 2023. Joker Out is a five-member Slovenian indie rock band formed in 2016, who describe their genre as 'Shagadelic Rock n' Roll.' They had represented Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Carpe Diem", placing 21st. Their discography includes two studio albums: ''Umazane misli'' (2021), and ''Demoni'' (2022). zalagasper (formerly Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl) is a Slovenian musical duo from Maribor consisting of vocalist Zala Kralj and multi-instrumentalist Gašper Šantl.
