Slovenia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, having internally selected Joker Out to represent the country with the song "", written by band members , Jan Peteh, Jure Maček, Kris Guštin and Nace Jordan, alongside Žarko Pak. Joker Out were announced as the Slovenian entrants to the contest on 8 December 2022, whilst their song was presented to the public in a televised presentation show, , on 4 February 2023. Slovenia was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 11 May 2023 and was later selected to perform in position 10. Joker Out
Joker Out is a five-member Slovenian indie rock band formed in 2016, who describe their genre as 'Shagadelic Rock n' Roll.' They had represented Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Carpe Diem", placing 21st. Their discography includes two studio albums: ''Umazane misli'' (2021), and ''Demoni'' (2022). Career 2016–2021: Formation and ''Umazane misli'' The group was formed in May 2016 after the breakup of Apokalipsa, which included Bojan Cvjetićanin, Martin Jurkovič, Matic Kovačič and Luka Škerlep. Konstrakta
Ana Đurić (; sr-Cyrl, Ана Ђурић, ; , ; born 12 October 1978), known professionally as Konstrakta ( sr-Cyrl, Констракта), is a Serbian singer and songwriter. She had risen to prominence as the lead vocalist of the indie pop band Zemlja gruva!, which was founded in 2007, before pursuing her solo career in 2019. Sestre (drag Act)
Sestre are a Slovenian drag act that represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002. Tomaž (Marlenna), Damjan (Emperatrizz) and Srečko (Daphne) had been performing together since 2000 under the name Suspender Sisters with a classic drag queen show program. While Marlenna and Emperatrizz were known to be escorts prior to their career in music, Daphne was a student of agronomy. In February 2002 they worked with the creative team of Dom Svobode and together they created one of the biggest and most controversial entries in Eurovision Song Contest ever. Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song "Samo ljubezen" written by Robert Pešut and Barbara Pešut. The song was performed by the drag act Sestre. Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV Slovenija) organised the national final ''EMA 2002'' in order to select the Slovenian entry for the 2002 contest in Tallinn, Estonia. 18 entries competed in the national final which consisted of two shows: a semi-final and a final. Slovenia returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 with Nuša Derenda and the song "Energy". The song was selected as the Slovene entry after it won the Slovene national final, EMA 2001. Siddharta (band)
Siddharta is a five-piece Slovenian alternative rock band formed in 1995. They are named after the 1922 novel by the German writer Hermann Hesse, '' Siddhartha''. History Siddharta was formed in 1995 when four friends – Tomi Meglič (vocals, guitar), Primož Benko (guitar, back vocals), Primož Majerič (bass) and Boštjan Meglič (drums) – got together and named themselves after a well-known Hermann Hesse novel because they liked the sound of it. Their earliest work was first performed in front of an audience on 17 March 1995. The band had 40 visitors packed in their rehearsal place at Šentvid High School in Ljubljana, but at this first show the raw energy characteristic for Siddharta's live performances in the years to come could already be felt.
