Slovakia At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Slovakia competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. Marek Hrivík and Katarina Šimoňáková were the country's flagbearer during the opening ceremony. Meanwhile hockey player Peter Cehlárik was the flagbearer during the closing ceremony. Vlhova's gold was the first ever alpine skiing medal for the nation. Also, the hockey team made headlines around the world after upsetting the USA in the quarterfinals. Medalists The following Slovak competitors won medals at the games. Matej Tomek (born 24 May 1997) is a Slovak professional ice hockey goaltender for HC Verva Litvínov of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). Career Tomek spent the 2016–2017 season with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks men's ice hockey team. During his time at the University of North Dakota, Tomek played a total of two games. Tomek previously played for HK Dukla Trenčín of the Slovak Tipsport liga during the 2019–20 season. Miloš Kelemen (born 6 July 1999) is a Slovak professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), left winger for the Tucson Roadrunners in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Kelemen was a member of HKM Zvolen, HKM Zvolen's academy of the Slovak Extraliga before making his professional debut for the team during the 2016–17 Slovak Extraliga season, 2016–17 season. Tomáš Jurčo (born 28 December 1992) is a Slovak professional ice hockey right winger who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He began playing hockey in the HC Košice before moving to North America in 2009 to play for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Libor Hudáček
Libor Hudáček (; born 7 September 1990) is a Slovak ice hockey player currently under contract with HC Oceláři Třinec of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). He is the younger brother of Július Hudáček, who is a goaltender. Playing career Hudáček began playing junior ice hockey in the HK Spišská Nová Ves. Marko Daňo (born 30 November 1994) is an Austrian-born Slovak professional ice hockey right winger for HC Oceláři Třinec of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). Šimon Nemec (born 15 February 2004) is a Slovak professional ice hockey defenceman for the Utica Comets in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL).
